Because one was a crappy call, but hardly an injustice. The other was just bad refereeing that completely changed the course of the fight. To go from a knock-out loss to a draw suggests something went seriously wrong.

It's not inconsistent, the situation is just not as black and white as you're making out.

Of course I am. Though you may notice there are only a few posters I argue with. Maybe that should tell you something.

Well no, you consider one entirely fair and the other an injustice. But the difference is only the scale of the injustice. A bad knockdown call will rarely change the result of the fight (but it may) and the call of the referee in the Martinez fight obviously instantly changes the result. They are both injustices in my opinion.

Anyways, we're going around in circles and derailing the thread so we can leave it as a difference of opinion.

Golovkin has made some terrible career choices. Linking up with a trainer like Abel Sanchez was a shocking career decision. Sanchez trains plodders and walk em down type fighters like Antillon and Peter. He has taken a brilliant pure boxer with excellent technical ability and runied him basically. It was sad to watch Golovkin against Ouma, even though he stopped him, he took so many shots and he looked brutal in the bad sense ! He might not of been fighting against quality guys under Universum but he boxed with great poise, balance and footwork were class under Schaburow and same as yourself i thought if he carried on as he was he would of beaten Martinez. Not now though.

Apologies if I've been a fanny. It's nothing serious.

I think Barker can win this, but the doctors say it is unlikely I will be getting released anytime soon.

i would love to believe he can do it, but cannot reasonably see any strong assets that he has to prevail against an elite fighter like martinez.

whilst some are on the point of referee's and thier decisions--can anyone school me on how and why certain boxers/promoters are able to request certain refs in thier fights,,doesn't this just imply that certain refs prefer certain styles/tactics?.don't get me wrong i understand the game to the extent of gaining any advantage ,but it does seem a sad state of affairs that a refs impartiality is nul and void in the greatest sport?:huh
