Anyone else think Crolla would have actually won if the ref didn't stop it?

Yeah, I think he would have won. He was winning the round before the knockdown and Matthews was looking hurt, especially to the body. Had Crolla been allowed to fight on, I think Matthews would have started the next round quickly but Crolla would have come back, hurt him again, and then stopped him in the next round.

If they have a rematch, I'll put money on Crolla winning it.

I don't know if he would have won, that's the reason I was on the edge of my seat until the ref ruined it, I would edge towards Crolla I think if he carried on going to the body it would have slowed down Matthews offence but wouldn't have been surprised if Crolla got put on his arse again, it was a great fight ruined.

 

Well icemax, a lot on this thread agree with me that Crolla could have carried on and won. You, Robert, Paul Smith, and John Keane might not, but in many peoples views John Keane spoilt what may well have been the fight of the year.

He might have won, I'm not so sure if he would have though. Like many others I think Matthews looked to be sagging a bit with those body shots so in theory if the Ref wouldn't have stepped in then Crolla would have come out, marched forward and went to the body again. But that is in theory, not in reality.

You are deluded..Crolla was gone, the ref saw it and so did others,there was nothing spoilt about that fight except your bias judgment....

I aint going to say who might have won had the fight continued as it was a back and forth fight, but i think the stoppage was a tad premature and ruined a could have been British Epic.

I think the ref jumped in early, but to be honest, Derry was looking stronger and IMO would have taken him out in the next round.

 

The fight deserves a rematch. If Crolla sorts out his defence he would win IMO.
