Anyone else think Crolla would have actually won if the ref didn't stop it?

It shouldnt of been stopped, but seems Crolla needs to get out of Joe's gym, Crolla is a real talented boxer why get in a war, all the boxers are like that in Joe's gym.
Liked his tight defense in the first couple of rounds but would of like Crolla fainting a bit more and weaving in and out. Instead he plodded forward like John Murray, good tactics if you want to get sparked..

 

crolla didnt now were he was only the ropes kept him on his feet ref saved him from getting seariously hurt imo

 

There is so much more to boxing than what Joe teaches, have you ever seen one of his boxers fight on the back foot? you need different strings to your bow if your going to mix it at a high level and continuously be able too, IMHO Gallagher can't teach you that but yet lots of fighters go to him?

 

I thought it was completely 50/50 at that point. For all the people that say he was about to get KO'd, he recovered from a worse situation early on so I'm not sure the basis for that. He may have been, he may not, point is it definitely wasn't serious enough of a predicament to warrant stopping the guy in a toe to toe war.

Good chance he could have recovered again and the body shots were definitely hurting Derry.

A small chance IMO. The doctor would have stopped it eventually. Crolla face was a state, a few more rounds and the doctor would have seen enough. Derry seemed very determined and I don't think Crolla would have got to him.

 

I agree with this. Good chance Mathews' glass body would've given out on him.

Agree with every word, before Matthews stunned him again i thought crolla was getting on top. Obviously, he did get stunned and that was a momentum changer but he might have recovered and got back on top again, and broke Matthews.

Potentially epic fight spoiled IMO, don't want to see people get hurt badly but we weren't at that point

 

If Crolla had actually gone down the second time, I think he'd have beaten the count and fought on. The odds would still have been in Derry's favour, with the cut, and the confidence he was gaining from hurting Crolla, but I think the referee was too quick off the mark for a title fight.

Didn't think Matthews had that left in him though. I expected a total shut out in the style of the first couple of rounds. Well done to him!

Wanted Derry to win but that was a very premature stoppage.
