Anyone else think Ismayl Sillakh represents 'big risk, little reward' for Kovalev

Here is my thinking: Kovalev will go into this fight as a huge favourite, with people saying Sillakh was exposed by Denis Grachev TKO8 in April 2012, and Kovalev being on a great run since and has become the most feared boxer at 175.

Before the Grachev fight however, quite a few hardcore followers looked at Sillakh as a future pound for pound level fighter. He was KO'd by Grachev after completely dominating Grachev for the first half of the fight- far more easily I might add than Lucian Bute did 6 months later, got ****y and ended up getting stopped. Surely Sillakh will learnt from that -plus nobody would be stupid enough to try that **** against Kovalev anyhow.

If I was pushed for a prediction I would say Kovalev- which I say due to Sillakh lack of survival skills as Kovalev will likely hurt him at least once in the fight, however I think their are guys at 175 who he'd 1- Get much more credit for beating and 2- look better doing it. And if he doesn't look good doing it, his chance to fight Stevenson (should he do the biz against Bellew) will probably be put on the back burner and Stevenson fight the Pascal- Bute winner.

    Thoughts?

I would call it little risk, little reward. Sillakh is a good boxer who has some decent pop, but as soon as Kovalev gets his hands on him, it's over.

We'll see how long Sillakh can keep Kovalev away.

We will see, if Sillakh keeps him away for the majority of the fight the 'Kovalev is a hype-job' bandwagon will gather some steam though

Kovalev likes to stay busy and he wants to fight good fights that the fans will respect.
Good fight to stay ready and maybe land a big fight with Stevenson next year!

Meh, maybe he'll finish Sillakh in spectacular fashion and will be back on the Stevenson-Pascal card for another double feature in Quebec... except this one will likely be at the Bell Centre where there are more bells & whistles than in Qc City where Stevenson is supposed to flatter Bellew. Kovalev could beat a guy like Eleider Alvarez, a hometown favourite, and set the stage for a fight against the winner of Stevenson-Pascal. Let's face it, Pascal's chin is solid and that's ultimately going to make the difference against Bute who will likely lose a UD.

Given Sillakh's chin, it's likely be a short nights work for Kov.

Sillakh is definitely a no reward fight, but for KOvalev, he's no risk either.

While KOvalev will get no credit for starching Sillahk, you gotta admire Sillahks courage. He knows his chin is not the best, probably a little better than Whites, but not better than Cleverlys, and he knows he wont be able to outbox Sergei. His only hope is to land his 1-2(which is top 5 in the division) and somehow catch KOvalev cold, early.

I don't think he's got the confidence to go right at KOvalev......but that's just me.:think

I wouldn't say he knows this. He probably feels he can outbox KOvalev- and he may be right.

His chin is the worry though.
