Anyone else think it looked too easy for Canelo?

In other topic threads some a suggesting BJS was outboxing Canelo until the stoppage. I didn't know stoppages were now discounted.

Now OP is asking if it looked too easy for Canelo? o_O I think some boxing fans are bi-polar... or something.

No. Did you not see his post fight press conference? His face look like puff pastry and he was clearly mentally exhausted… That was a man who had to think in there… imagine if the steroids had of worn off earlier..

No. I think in retrospect BJS just got over-rated. Half of the board hates Canelo so they were rooting against him and it reflected in their score cards. For fans of the sport they saw BJS had a tricky style Canelo has struggled against, but also in retrospect was BJS ever as good as Mayweather or even Lara? At least with Lara we knew he had good fights against Paul Williams, Alfredo Angulo and Austin Trout and several other decent guys. BJS has fought Andy Lee and David Lemieux. Not exactly A+ competition. BJS was about as good as he showed himself to be, decent B+ fighter against an A+ fighter. He was going to get stopped one way or another.

    Agreed.

That's what I meant by it seemed inevitable.

So, what you're saying is different people have differing opinions?

    This is unusual?

It is a forum...and it would be very dull if everyone agreed, surely?

Hate to say I called it but a couple of days before the fight I said the weight of the worry of leaving the ring crying with a towel on his head like Broner would break the man. The more he tried the "Gypsy magic" and trash talk the worse it was for him. Sad to see another human being break down but he mentally is destroyed. I hope his family stick with him despite all the justified comments of him being "Debbie Harry" BJS.

Imo BJS won 3 rounds and was in the fight. Canelo body punching **** him up though, and BJS movement wasn't quite as good as I expected.

I agree with your analysis on the fight. I don't think he needs to go to 175 pounds at all. Those saying that just want him to lose to a much bigger man. He did not look his best against Kovalev though of course he closed the show.

Yeah, Canelo is the fighter I've gotten the most enjoyment out of watching for quite a while, but as p4p nr 1 fighters go he's not nearly as ahead of the pack as Whitaker or RJJ or even Mayweather were in their primes. All good that his fights are more competitive, though. Makes them more enjoyable to watch.

But he's deservedly nr 1 p4p, though. Loma is coming off a loss and Crawford hasn't fought a live body in ages, so other than perhaps Inoue I can't really se who else is in the discussion.

Lousy straw man argument. You just contradicted yourself.

I rather politely (by most sports forum standards) disagreed w/you, and you take me to task for not allowing differing opinions o_O I'd suggest you keep your post count low.

No? There were several rounds where Canelo couldn't even hit BJS.

Only haters and frankly idiots think Saunders was outboxing Canelo. The truth is the fine went exactly to plan for Canelo and Eddy Reynoso. Canelo was ahead by 6 rounds to 2 ahead of Saunders at the time of the stoppage 78-74 on my scorecard.

You were not full of ****. You analysed it correctly like I did in our pre-fight analysis.

Thought it looked "easy" (or like he could take Saunders out whenever he wanted) during rounds 5, 6, or 7...? :dunno
