Anyone else think it would be a mistake for Taylor to take on Calzaghe?

Taylor's the type of guy who will fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. Even in his post fight interview, when Merchant asked him whether he would like Calzaghe, JT simply said that it's up to people in charge and he will fight whoever is put in front of him. I hope the people in charge in DiBella doesn't rush JT and is looking out for his best interest.

If the fight does happen, it will be on Calzaghe's terms. That means jumping up another weight class to 175. At 170, it would be too even for Calzaghe's liking IMO. I just think JT should take on a couple of lower level fighters to polish his game further and then try to get the Calzaghe's and Kessler's where he will be ready.

    Thoughts?

Of course it would be a mistake. Why take a fight you have no chance to win?

I honestly think Dawson has the goods to beat Calzaghe.

I would give Taylor almost no chance against Calzaghe. He ought to stay around 168 and see what impact he can make there over the long haul. A devastating loss to Calzaghe, which is what I believe he'd suffer, would irreparably damage his career.

He's not busy enough and doesn't have the power to kO JC so I cant see how he could win.

He hasn't got the stamina and engine to cope with a guy like JC.

JC will out land him second half of the fight with possibly the first few rounds Taylors.

Taylor gets tired against the likes of Lacy after six rounds, no way can he even make it into the last four rounds with Joe.

Yeah, but his promotor is DiBella who i consider a rat and he might try to get the immediate pay day and sacrifice JT's career interests. Getting dominated by Calzaghe would be a huge hindrance. I just hope JT just doesn't say, "yes sir, i'll fight Calzaghe", which i'm sure he will do because he's such a good, young man.

The only man who could have beaten him was Hopkins imo and chad dawson possibly.

I'll have to watch the dawson vs johnson fight again it's a good fight to judge dawson by.

JT has fought Hopkins twice, Pavlik twice and Winky Wright, how much more polishing does he need?

i think he can beat kessler now.. kessler hasnt showed me anything special that jt wouldnt be able to adapt too... but in terms of calzaghe.. i think that calzaghe would be to busy for jermaine and would be able to squeak out a decision after picking himself off the floor at least one time lol

after seeing what hopkins was able to do against calzaghe i think that dawson would do a number on him because dawson has the stamina and the skills to deal with calzaghe's relentless approach... the only thing that stopped hopkins from thoroughly beating calzaghe is that at his advanced age hopkins didn't have the stamina to fend off calzaghe towards the later rounds because of calzaghe's relentless slapping approach

taylor definitely has the power... i guarantee he would at least drop calzaghe at least once or twice during the fight... and it wouldnt be an easy fight for calzaghe either... the only thing that gives calzaghe an edge in fighting jermaine taylor is just stamina in my book...
