Anyone else think it's a shame the most famous and best fighter in the world . . .

    That doesn't even make sense.

Boxing was a popular, mainstream sport then. Everyone knew who the HW champion was.

    Now it's a niche sport.

It does make sense. Because it means how the biggest star behaves in no way impacts the image or popularity of the sport.

Mayweather is a fantastic boxer but a horrible person. I understand what ppl mean when they say I doesn't matter what he's like outside of the ring but the way I look at it there's no excuse for the way he behaves. I find it impossible to root for him in fights because of his attitude.

Fingers crossed Tyson Fury wins a HW world title.

A likable, funny, charismatic & slightly crazy HW champion like him would do boxing a lot of good.

The real shame is not having one world HW champion that captivates the masses !!

I'm not sure if you're getting the fact that boxing is not the same now as it was then.

No, what I'm saying that the popularity of the sport isn't determined by the personality of its biggest fighter.

I think the kid does allot of **** that doesnt help him out, But I was actually thinking about this **** last night.
Look at it like this, your in the sport of boxing, and ultimately the goal for you is a major payday and if you have it in you to have a few of them that alone is a blessing.
Sure fighters get in the game for world titles exposure etc... But the more important aspect of it is the money, no way in the world are you just going to allow yourself to get beat on for free.
There is something that comes along with this sport when you reach a certain point in the game which is legacy and validity. Floyd has done a fantastic job of getting himself the right fights, that look good on paper look good in the history books when its all said and done Floyd has guided his career with smart match making and a solid management team all while making the most money any fighter has ever made.

So to sum it all up the way I look at Floyd, and sure I agree he did dodge some of the biggest challenges out there, but lets be real with it, Floyd hustled the **** out of this sport, sold his game and it paid off well for him.

and in the end when he is all done, when there is nothing left, History weather its kind to him or not, he will still go down as one of the best, he will still go down as the highest paid fighter in the history with record breaking PPV events....

and while writers and fans may still be talking **** about who he didnt fight and who he chose to fight instead, Floyd is going to be on his couch in his mansion knowing he succeeded, do you really think he is going to give a flying **** what anybody thinks at that point?

Mother ****er sure as **** aint no G, he sure as **** aint no blood and guts Warrior, But damn it that little mother ****er sure the **** knows how to run his game and hustle the **** out of the sport...... Gotta give him that
