Anyone else think Junior Dos Santos will be the world's next great heavyweight?

I think the question should be is "how" will Cain Carwin or Brock deal with JDS. JDS has been proven to be the goods. I dont think any of the aforementioned three can say the same.

 

In fairness i do think you are over rating him just slightly , if he can withstand Cain Velasquez's intensity and TD's he has a good chance against him , and i see Cain as the future of the division , but your not wrong about JDS , the man is a wrecking machine and along with Velasquez he has this freakish athletisism that guys that big just dont have , Fedor is Fedor and you can never ever take away the Pride legacy he's left behind , he's beaten too many good fighters to take that away , while i dont have a lot of time for Pride , Fedor fought and beat the best HW's in that division (considered the best guys in the world back then with good reason too) on a regular basis and there is no getting away from that , but HW's have evolved and its unclear where Fedor sits in the pecking order these days it really is .

Those 3 have proved to be the goods bro. Although IMO JDS has been ripping apart consistently the better oppostion and yet where is his title shot ?

 

I first watched this guy when he totally destroyed crocop in his own game.

i said it then that this guy is something special.. ofcourse since then he has proven he is. however he needs to prove wheather he is exceptional by beating the valasquez's of this world.

imo he is the next big thing in mma and i have been saying this since the crocop fight.
not only is he physically gifted, he also seems like a clever guy, studying his opponents, a thinking fighter!

 

Yes he is very intelligent. Do you remember how in that 3rd round he start using his knees especially to the body and it really started to break CroCop down quicker.

 

He is smart. His boxing is brutal but you can see how he isn't bombing away ala Wanderlei but using the jab, going to the body, using his range and trying to time the shots.

 

Yes JDS has beautiful timing. Honestly id probably rank him as the number 1 Heavyweight in the world right now hes been beating quality oppostion for 2 straight years. Fedor got knocked off by Werdum but who ate Werdum up in 45 secs ? JDS did. CroCops only loss in the last 7-8 fights of his is a dominating loss to JDS. Brock is ranked # 1 by Sherdog but he has 2 good wins im sorry but JDS has beat Gonzaga, CroCop and Werdum with ease. Why he has to fight Roy Nelson while Cain gets to wait till the winter for a title shot baffles me. So what happens Cain fights lets say Brock in November then does JDS have to fight Frank Mir or something and continue to prove himself ? How many tough guys does this man have to destroy before he gets his shot ?

I think it might have everything to do with the money my man. Cain knocks off exactly 1 good fighter and gets to wait for the title shot is it because hes a Mexican-American and history shows with guys like Tito, Vargas and DLH these guys sell a boatload ? I like Cain but lets compare the oppostion fight by fight

Lets see Morris I dont even know who the **** he is but Werdum just choked out the GOAT in Fedor. Struve would probably choke O'Brein out but its close to even there. Cro Cop would likely murder that Stonicj fella or whatever his name in. Yvel already stopped Kongo once. Gonzaga would rip Rothwell apart and probably eat the man alive. Nogueira has accomplished much more then Nelson but **** I might pick Nelson over this 2010 Nogueira. Terrible :-( They cant hold back JDS forever and believe me its going to get damn ugly IMO for this divison when he gets that belt.

 

I agree. JDS has completely dominated his last 5 fights and stopped all of them. He has arguably had up to 5 eliminators.

He ****ed up Werdum when he was coming off of beat Gonzaga (who had just lost to champ Couture) and Vera (who had just come off of fighting former champ Sylvia and beating former champ Mir).

In fact, giving him Werdum on his UFC debut was incredibly ****ish from Dana. Hard fight.
