Anyone else think that Gamboas defense is underrated?

His defence isn't under rated at all, its his biggest weakness.

For sure, but I am directing this towards the comments like "it is HORRIBLE" and "non-existent", etc. I think its better than those....simply because of his excellent footwork, movement, reflexes. Yes it needs to improve, but he has some great intangibles imo. I love to watch him throw awesome combos and then dart out of range, I just wish he would keep his hands up

Horrible defences would be that of Amir Khan, whom light hitting C level's find room to tag on.

Guys are only landing 25% of their shots on him because he has yet to fight someone who can deal with his speed and reflexes with timing. Jiminez hit him too much the other night to disregard his defensive flaws. Either way I am looking forward to watching him fight in the future, the guy is an athletic freak and exciting in the ring

His defence is pretty bad. Its unorthadox for sure, but he gets tagged a lot. The scary part is that he is getting tagged flush as well, and its been happening all the way through his career so far. It needs work, its really not debatable. I think if you are struggling to see that then you might be guilty of letting your personal bias effect your judgement.

Never said it doesn't need work, just once again that I don't think its completely horrid like some people make it out to be. Floyd senior anyone? :hey

Fair enough. Not completely horrid, i think half the problem is that he falls in love with his own power too often. I think if he put more focus on defence, he could certainly sharpen up. How that would effect his offense though remains to be seen.

    WTF are u talking about?
    Who he fought ??

Once he faces level B fighter, it will be 4th round KO.
I don't like Pacman but he would knock that ass out of the ring in 1st round.

Don't know why, cause it's completely unrelated, but that line there made me think of Hopkins in the infamous Roy Jones interview... "Who I am?" Especially after Jones just told him to get some English lessons right before.

On topic, I wouldn't say under-rated. Its the biggest flaw in his game that needs to be improved at the moment, imo.
