theres no doubting canelo can fight and box well, but i think lara will show him up to be just a decent level fighter, lara is one tricky guy and could even possibly score a stoppage against him.
What this guy said. In fact, I see people talking about hype jobs, and to me this is by far the guy that is most overhyped. Good fighter, no doubt, but some put him up there in the level of Mayweather and Rigo. No way! Canelo wins convincingly
I think this fight is a toss up. Lara certainly has the ability to outbox Canelo, and may just do that. Canelo also has the ability to stay with Lara, and hurt him. I think Canelo will get to him, and win a close fight.
Lara is not overrated. That's a goofy statement. Thurman=overrated. Canelo=overrated. Danny garcia=overrated. Lara is a highly skilled boxer with great power. I've seen canelo fight 2 prominent american "boxers" in trout and floyd and he got schooled in both. Trout was pretty even I guess...Lara is much better than trout. He gets associated with floyd n rigo becuz of his defensive ability. But I agree he's not on their level. Tho he is not far off.
Angulo and molina come to mind. I know styles make fights, but no way a 'master' boxer goes life and death with an Angulo. Not even sissy Cintron struggled that much. Ill stick to what I said earlier; overhyped
And quiet frankly, I get sick and tired of only the boxers that use a lot of lateral movement being categorized as 'boxers'. To me, you dont know **** about boxing if you only label that kind of style as being 'pure' boxing. In that case, titere vasquez is a genius.
you most be a genius, lets see how can I show you a few things were a master boxer will strugle with a heavy handed come forward pressure fighter, firts the ring have to be very small just like the one Lara and perro fought, second if the mat is made out memory foam that could be trouble too, ex; Lara-perro fought on one of those, then lets say the promoter that is paying your check goes to you after the weight in and tell you that, you can't go over 10 pounds in the second weight in while forgetting to tell the adversary, guess what that happens in the Lara-perro fight too, what a coincedence, then the guy, lets say el perro, look like he was on some kind of $h1t (has been years since he look so energized) and there you have it, a master boxer getting in trouble, the good thing is that we got a few answers from that fight, Lara has some kind of chin and balls...
Alvarez is a better all around boxer than Lara, Lara just has better stamina and foot speed. Alvarez counter punches with fast hard combos, Lara counters with fast singular 1-2 potshots that at time are fluff and others strong. Lara's best attribute is his ability to avoid a "fight" with movement but, there are timeless examples of Lara being caught and hurt in fights. Alvarez's biggest assets are his hard counters and bodywork. Alvarez has shown to improve and grow every fight, Lara's performance fluctuate from fight to fight. The idea that movement beats Alvarez while not false are a bit overblown as well, Mayweather is the "best fighter of this era" and Alvarez looked as good as anybody else has. The fight wtih Trout was competitive that Alvarez was starting to take control of in the mid rounds, that got spoiled because open scoring had Alvarez up 7/1-8/0. Alvarez was really up something like 5/3-6/2 in a closer fight he basically took his foot off the gas after scoring the knockdown, in the process arguably allowing Trout to win more rounds. As far as rounds won I can arguably see Trout winning more depending on how you look at it but, imo that fight was only as close as it looked because the judges made it impossible for Trout to win and everyone knew it, without open scoring Alvarez would have still fought hard in the final rounds probably dropping Trout again. Lara is just a credible should be easy opponent to help Alvarez learn for a potential Mayweather rematch.
