Anyone else think that the super 6 isn't working?

The Super six is great for the proper fans, but I think it's failing to set the world alight. Just look at the venues for the fights (Nottingham, Detroit, Herning - no London, Copenhagen or Vegas), the failure to get mainstream media interested.

In the UK, for example, Haye and Khan (who, in fairness, are better boxers) still completely dominate over Froch. Not entirely surprising, given one is a heavy and the other has been a star in this country sinve he was a teenager, but the failure of Froch to be known outside the East Midlands is staggering.

I think the format is just too long and flawed. It needed to be an elimination comp, though I appreciate these six guys would've never signed up if there wasn't the three fight guarantee.

I dont care where the fights happen as long as we get to see good fights(disapointing so far) with the best fighting the best.
Agree that the format is a bit ****,it shouldve been an eight man elimination tourney.

It has failed miserably. Even very very casual fans know who khan and haye is. Ask them about the super six and they will thing what the hell?

Problem is the fights have been a huge disappointment

Dirrell vs Froch was ruined because of Dirrells tactics. To make the super six recognised you need to entertain

Ward vs Kessler, what can you say about this? The fight should have been called off 3-4 times due to the headbuts and elbows, this fight was more like UFC. Perhaps the most biased fight of all time against kessler. This diminished the super six even further

Taylor vs Abraham, now Abraham is the only boxer who's stock has truly risen in no controversial circumstances. The only damn problem was perhaps the most devastating boxer was paired against the biggest name in the competition in Taylor. Now he is gone and again is further diminished the comp.

Just to add, what the hell were showtime smoking when they made taylor vs abraham, the biggest name ffs, they should have used their head and put him against froch in a rematch or kessler

It's fine. People thought it would be good for the sport on an international level because people in the participants' native countries would get excited about it. They have (and are). It was never supposed to save the sport or bring it back into major global prominence. That responsibility never belonged to the Super Six.

Froch is deservedly less known than Haye and Khan as he's a far less skilled boxer than both. If he wins the tournament he'll be an international star and on their level, same as if anybody else does.

It seems to be doing fine, except in the UK where Mick Hennessy has utterly failed in promoting it properly...

If all of these fights were made and the super 6 was never concieved, we'd all be happy to see them fighting each other and not ducking.

See it for what it is, not for what you thought it would be.

Agreed. I think it's doing what is was supposed to do so far. Shouldn't we let it get through it's second round at least before we call it a failure?

Man, boxing fans are a fickle lot.

It was never going to set the world alight, and everyone involved went in knowing that.

its too drawn out. its gonna take another 2 years for god sake. they should have done it like prize fighter but in 2 pools. 3 fight the first week against each other in a 4 round contest round robin so its only 8 rounds each. then the week after the other 3 fight. then winner takes all final over 12 rounds. much better.

or at least have a couple of fights on the same card. this is all too drawn out. whats the point of allan green, hes dog ****

This is a joke right? Either that or you are Jermaine Taylor and want to set up the only scenario under which you might win...
