some guys are crazy, the only problem is that the time frame before the next round is to long, they should make a round every 3 months. but i would rather see the super six than nothing. you all should be happy that they even make something like the super six!!!

No, I think it has been great for boxing.

It is too long and the fighters involved are wasting away their primes and are going to be taking heeps of punishment since they're fighting nothing but world class fighter after world class fighter.

Goes to show that an uneven number of participants doesn't work too well. The tournament should've been an 8 man, single elimination type deal or bust. This 6 man point format is just really odd.

WTF? The fighters are 'wasting their primes' by fighting world class fighters?

Yeah lets get back as quickly as possible to the days of champions spending their primes looking impressive against binmen and taxi drivers....

They got who they could get. And, what? If you're not an elite fighter you deserve to be called that? He doesn't deserve that ****.

I've been reading boxing forums for the last 10 years or so and this is without a shadow of a doubt the most ridiculous thread I've read (congratuljations as that takes some serious doing).

"Don't you just hate it when the best in the division have to fight each other" :patsch

I admit, J.R., that comment struck me as odd also. I thought that's what we all wanted out of upper level guys. To take on the best and prove that one man was definitively and fairly called number one.

Agreed. The only issue is the length of tourney.

The duration of the opening three rounds is not going to be any longer then you would normally expect an elite fighter to have three fights in though. And then the semi finals and final will be set up naturally. Don't really see the problem.

My only question, is Green the best you could do? the guy creates no excitement and I seriously doubt anyone cares about seeing him......Im sure he would not have seen any of these matchups on his own thats how nonexistant the demand for Green is.

It's been too long in between stage 1 and 2. I wish they could get every 4 months as originally planned as opposed to every 6 months. It gets somewhat forgotten during the lull IMO. It could really be a focal point if they could capitalize on the momentum a little better.

Not to defend Green...... he's all right, but it was supposed to be a play in with him vs Bika, and apparently Bika didnt take the fight. Not sure as to particulars. Other than that, who would have been better, other than Bute or Pavlik who they didnt want?

Also, Green does actually have a chance to advance. Although, with a lot of "ifs". If he outpoints Kessler in rd 3(big if) he gets in assuming that Kessler loses versus, or does not KO Froch. If Kessler KO's Froch Green would need to KO Kessler. This also depends on Dirrell as well. But, if all favor stays with the favorites, Dirrell loses to both AA and Ward. It is entirely possible Green advances, although it depends on a lot of factors.

when this first came out, i said to my friend that this whole tournament is great for us boxing fans, but it's flawed. the main flaw is, what would happen when a fighter quits the tournament for whatever reason? how would the scoring then work to make it officially fair? and the only way i could think of is if you took all those points away from whoever fought that opponent, so basically the fight never existed in the tournament, and then bring another fighter in, and if the same happens, then do it again, which as you would know would take so bloody long, and must be demoralizing for some boxers.

i don't think they thought this whole thing over. great tournament, just not thought well.
