Anyone else think this could be a borderline mis-match in hattons favour?

hatton is incredibly strong at 140. you only have to look at the effect his punches had on the likes of tyszu, castillo, and mallanaggi. yes, manny beat de la hoya at 147 but he barely took a shot.

i respect manny a lot and think he is a great fighter but does anyone else out there feel that hattons power is gonna have a big effect on manny in this fight and make it a much more one sided contest than anyone imagined?

i just have a feeling about hattons body shots at this weight being to much for pac.
who knows though he looks to be more resistant to them nowadays and if he can take them i think hell beat him quite comfortably

theres been some strange fights in boxing recently, fights that you thought would be competitive going into them but have ended up incredibly one sided

    eg
    vitali v peter
    hopkins v pavlik
    manny v oscar
    margarito v mosley

i've got a feeling this one may end up the same in hattons favour.

    Not really.

I think it will be a tougher match than Pacquiao is expecting, but certainly Arum and Roach aren't underestimating Ricky.

This fight will mirror Pac vs Morales I (or perhaps II) but I cannot pick a winner at this stage.

The more i think about this fight, the closer it seems and the more undecided i am. I really dont know who to pick. I need to see a 24/7 and be closer to the day of the fight before i choose.

I've always seen this one as a pick'em fight. Too many variables.

i disagree with that mate. in old interviews i've heard arum and roach talk about hatton in the past, and i don't think either of them rate him.

    arum see's easy money

roach see's hatton as good money and a stepping stone to bigger fights.

Well sure, Hatton has an advantage as he is a naturally bigger boxer than Manny. However, that doesn't mean Hatton can beat Manny. In the old days, Manny would just charge in and exchange punches. Nowadays, he's become a much more savvy boxer with a lot more movement. Knowing that he is the smaller fighter, he is beating his opponents with speed. He moves in and out and beats the other guy to the punch. Unless Hatton can consistently bully and trap Manny in a corner, I see Manny winning either by points or by a late round TKO.

I think they see the money, but certainly respect what Hatton brings to the table in terms of the boxing match.

the bookies have pac as a clear favourite but i think they are taking too much from the oscar fight. and i think this fight is much closer to 50:50. but it's one of those fights that could see the either fighter completly dominated. if hatton can't handle pacs speed and the punches are hurting it could be over for hatton or if pac can't keep hatton at distance and in the centre of the ring, hatton could overwhelm him with bodypunches and stop him. either way i think the first couple of rounds will be telling and give a good indication of the outcome. i can't wait.

It's a real pickem kinda fight, but outside Juan Urango, I've never seen as imposing a 140 pounder as Ricky - he always looks massive at 140 in the ring.

I am interested to see what Roach plans for Pac in this fight - What they will try to leverage from.

One thing that works for Pac I think is his ability to get low and pivot out at an angle away from shots, if Hatton does his pressure, come forward and try to grab I can see him clutching at air and getting sharp fast counters for his trouble.

I certainly don't see this fight as a lock for Pacman victory by any means, I think Hatton's lost a step or two but he's nowhere near the degraded ODLH that Pacman has flustered the world with.

It's a great fight, I can not wait.

I think the way Manny Pacquiao won against Oscar De La Hoya might give Manny a false sense of security going in with the much younger fresher Hatton, and this could blow up in Mannys face if he thinks well I whipped Oscar I can whip this man.

Manny in order to win is going to have to box, I dont see him grinding it out with Hatton and winning, he has to dart in get his shots off and dart out. Hatton will Pressure Manny and since Manny has picked up the ablity to box a bit more Manny will adjust.

Honestly I think Manny gets beat here, I think Hattons last fight displayed a pretty good set of skills to get it done against Pacquiao he was able to clearly beat Paulie with out getting hit as much as he usally does, I honestly think Hatton is winning this fight, and I am leaning towards the boarder line mismatch as well
