this is just a step up in the the learning experience for the cinnamon man.rhodes brings years of ring savvy and a jab to keep alvarez honest for half a dozen rounds, before the young man's extra skill and stamina help him pull away to a fairly straightforward clear points win or even a late stoppage with ryan's corner pulling him out on compassionate grounds as he soaks up a needless beating after 9 or 10 rounds.
yeah, ten years ago maybe.when rhodes was 24 and alvarez hadn't even seen his first bright orange pubic hair yet.
How? He hits much harder than alvarez and he's more experienced but he has questionable punch resistance i guess. I see alvarez as slower and less powerful than rhodes and he was in effect gifted his title as magic matt was hardly a huge step up. Baldomir and ndou aren't what they once were, its not like he's been tearing through big names. I really think rhodes can take what's dished out and knock the **** out of him, too slick and powerful for slow canelo, i'd imagine he needs to knock him out in mexico though.
Now while Alvarez wasnt as impressive as we all hoped V Hatton he still won every round. Tell me apart from the Jamie Moore performance what sterling efforts was it that make you belive Rhodes can beat Alvarez? Was it the classy display against world class Jamie Coyle?? No? How about the brilliant performance against Vincent Vuma. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE GRINGO IT AINT HAPPENING
You can't discount the jamie moore fight because it suits your argument, ryan knocked out luca messi after and then the guy he sparked last wasnt up to much. When did Canelo become better than rhodes is now?
As I see it the major problem for Rhodes won't be getting hit by the bigger puncher, it'll be which fighter will pressure him the most over the 12 rounds and force him in to errors. I think Bundrage is a better bet for Ryan.
I'm noy discounting the Jamie Moore performance lets be honest apart from that hes no better than domestic class mate. Luca Messi? Do me a favour
