Rhodes is a strong favourite to get Ottke'd here.

Chavez'd is probably the more suitable term for this one.

Easy belt? You're kidding, surely? Alvarez has been taking a bit of a shellacking on ESB because he failed to look world class in his last outing against Matthew Hatton. We hold him to a higher standard because big things are expected of him, but this doesn't change the fact that Ryan Rhodes is a Euro-level operator. The closest he could come to a World Title is if he was handed the WBO belt by Frank Warren against some no name. I don't want to come across harsh so let me clarify. Ryan Rhodes is very good, he could potentially beat Alvarez, but he's never ever going to have an easy time with him. That doesn't happen. Euro-level fighters don't beat the likes of Alvarez easily.

Will it be at 154lbs or the new WBC limit of 150lbs (or whatever weight Alvarez fancies) ?

He did turn pro at 15 whereas here you can't turn pro until 18 (I think).

Rhodes would have been champ had he been given the fight vs margo or hatton for the vacant belt. But he won't beat saul.

Im not sold on alvarez i think rhodes has a good chance and the fact cottos brother hurt him proves rhodes will be able too it is how he will be able to deal with the pressure.

But seriously Brook will be lucky if he manages to win a belt over here.

I see this as a fairly even fight. Obviously being in Mexico makes it harder but Rhodes can pull this off. I think he would of beaten Hatton, N'Dou and Baldomir in just as good a fashion as Saul. This is a step up for Alvarez, he's going to have to deal with somebody who can fire back for once.

Rhodes is a good boxer but he is getting on abit, he would really have to roll back the years for a win i would if thought.
Whats wrong with having ginger bollocks anyway?

I don't see Rhodes winning this lads. Forget Alvarez being overrated, that may well be the case but you still have to analyze what you see here.

You got a guy that only just beat Jamie Moore. It was a shock result of course, but lets not forget his troubles in that fight. Quite a few times Ryan looked like he was on his last legs and about to get knocked out. He got hammered for a few rounds until Moore seemed to lose steam. Alvarez is not going to make mistakes like that, he's going to be consistent.

Alvarez is officially gaining the list of people trying to be "themselves". Alvarez is still probably the biggest propect in boxing, but as with everything, since people start to like him alot of people say "Hey, people like him, this means I dont".

Alvarez will have a tough time with Rhodes but I think he'll most likley come through it, and people saying he will get killed easily will not mention it until his next fight, in which they will say the same thing. He may have had a slight struggle against mini cotto, but that fight alone put him on my radar, so he was definently impressive in that fight and has only gotten more and more impressive since. Why hate the guy and say he is overrated just because everyone likes him? You dont have to be that stand out origional guy everytime guys...
