Anyone else thought Cintron's 169 with Alfredo's 159lbs showed?

I mean it really looked like LHW vs middelweight. Not saying that's the only reason Angulo lost, but a 10lbs weight disadvantage is a LOT, especially on world class level. When you look at the fight, he is definitely physically the bigger guy. Of course he still out-sped the Mexican for most of the fight, but i think Angulo had a better chance to wear someone down of his own size.

For those who didn't know or missed it, both weighed in at 153 1/2, but Alfredo went up to 159 whereas Cintron went up to a whopping 169lbs.

I do think it's great that Angulo took this fight so early in his career, though. The man has balls. Now the only thing that has to go is that collar... that **** is gay.

    169 from Cintron?

    Quite normal standards.

    Only 14lbs.

    Most WWs put on 13-15lbs.

Not for Cintron though,he never came that heavy but the work put in wit the conditioning coach payed off.Don't think he could make 147 healthy anymore.
Offcourse it affected Angulo but he himself usually came in at 165 so I don't know why he didn't.

I did not know this or hear it last night. I did make a comment on a thread that Cintron looked to me (not knowing he was over 168!!) like he'd filled into 154 much better since the Martinez fight, in which he kind of looked like **** (esp. mid-section). But this fight, his upper body muscles looked way bigger. I thought he'd finally had the proper time to grow into the weight. But got dayum, 169! That's SMW, FFS.

I liked your thread, had lots of good info and the posters that did respond, talked boxing like adults.:good

I agreed pretty much with the poster who pointed out that no more than 5% of ageed weight over should be the cap. Anything beyond that is obviously rediculous and a mockery of the weight classes themselves.:yep

I would be ideal if they had to weigh-in twice... once 24 or 48 hours before, and once half an hour before the fight, in the dressing room. That would ensure:

-No de- or rehydration, meaning a fair fight

-Weight classes actually mean something. Today's welterweights are as big as the middleweights used to be.

Cintron looked fragile to me way before the championship rounds.

He hates it to the body and just looks like he does'nt like getting hit at all.

I was'nt impressed with him or his opponent.

He might of had clothes on but you had to realize this was at 154.
