Finally got round to getting hold of a copy. Great viewing and when Tyson talks about Cus D'Amato and breaks down is gut wrenching.

Anyway im not a here to start a thread about Tyson' downfall or fights as im sure it would be about the 6th Billionth and the subject has run its course.

Im here because of watching the highlights of his many fights in the documentary, it makes you realise just how far Heavyweight boxing has slipped in the past 20 years.

The pace and brutality of all the fights, the skill and speed of fighters that were only classed as "Contenders", and the atmosphere at every event is just mindblowing.

If anybody isn't behind David Haye's so called crusade, then your not a fan of the sport. The division needs restoring to its former glorys.

Anyone else watched the documentary? Any thoughts?

Saw it a few weeks ago. I thought it was brilliant. A very frank assessment of everything from Mike Tyson. For fans of the sport it makes for good viewing...and not just because of the highlights in it, as you mentioned the way he talks about Cus.. and his 'eyeballing' of opponents before a fight.. brilliant.

Yeah it was superb. And your right I cannot believe people complained in the 80/90's about the heavyweight division. This IMO was the best era of all time for the div if not boxing. even fringe contenders had 'crossover' appeal. All the fighters were Skillfull, hard hitting and had good physiques (know that sounds a bit gay but when you see a fat fighter you just aren't as interested). Good times

I thought it was great viewing. It reminded me just how good Tyson was back in his day. The man was unstoppable from about 86 to 88. Best ever in those years imo which is a great feat for a fighter as short as he was

I thought the documentary was pretty poor considering the amount of interview access the director had to Tyson. Most of what was said was already known and was a rehash of the much better Barbara Koppell doc on Tyson made in 1993 (Fallen Champ).

However for people who haven't see the older film then I can see why it would be an engaging watch

Buy it. You will definatly watch it more than once. The pure fighting machine that he was developed into before the first prison term is unbelievable, almost non human. He's unique. Everything in Heavyweight boxing that went on back then will never be replicated.

Its definetly interesting and well worth watching. I don't think its quite as good as some are saying, and its certainly not as good as when we were kinds or thriller in manilla.

I really enjoyed it , as a boxing fan i could of watched 3-4 hours worth of footage as some subjects where quickly dealt with ie Don King . but as it has to appeal to everyone including non boxing fans i could understand it only being on for 1 hour an a half. was sad to see Tyson getting upset talking about Cus , Tyson is very honest in the film even about he's sexual needs which i found very funny ( my girlfriend didn't)
