Good jabs get shown, especially if theres a bunch of head flicking jabs. Joes head never flicked on any of those jabs. If Hughies jab was landing then it must be soft because jabs are suppose to be so authoritative, that it keeps aggressors away. Thats a disgraceful jab if it was landing IMO. Soft!

I prefer defensive boxers over offensive punchers and picked Fury to win a decision, but I had Parker winning by 7-5 rounds.

Fury was just too negative. His movement yes was superb as I suspected it took Parker's combination punching out of the fight. But his jab with trash. It fell short 90% of the time and when it didn't it was either caught on Parker's gloves or landed with the same force as a rain drop landing on your head, hence why Parker was unmarked.

It was a close fight, I could see it going either way. A lot of the rounds were very close. Hughie was just trying to steal rounds by spoiling and then throwing the odd right hand or uppercut and hoping landing 1-2 clean punches in a round of no action would be enough for him to steal the round.

Parker did what he had to do and kept coming. But as always he was too predictable, he failed to counter over Fury's weak left jab. But he showed good head movement and his stamina seemed improved from the Takam fight where he gassed.

Fury is going to struggle now to get a meaningful fight unless he's a mandatory. He brings no money and will be marked as a negative spoiler, even if you beat him he'll make you look bad.

They was soft jabs because he's not a power puncher, he's a boxer like Khan. Does Khan not scored points with his weak arse jab? Its boxing.

Yeah I was saying something similar earlier. Those above him might not be too keen on taking on Hughie and his footwork. These big boys dont like to chase someone that moves like a mouse yet has a Inspector Gadget reach.

You got put in a decent effort behind a real jab, not an arm punching jab. You cant just pull your arm back 2cm and then punch again to do a double jab, thats not boxing. Boxing isnt about arm punches.

Yeah his jab was garbage last night. I think he landed 2 good jabs the whole fight that had any snap behind them. Most of the time it was a flick or an extension movement, not really what I'd call an effective punch.

He was throwing arm punches most of the night. Early in one of the later rounds, I think the 9th or 10th he started to sit down on the odd punch and all that did was allow Parker to finally throw in combination. He quickly went back to arm punches after that.

They have to be HARD clean shots to score.

The Furys attempted to manipulate the scoring system with these half arsed shots, but the judges were wise to it, and thank god they were, otherwise it would have made a mockery of HW boxing. Those shots wouldn't have hurt a British schoolgirl, yet they have the gall to think that should win them a HW title? Not on your nelly.

No, they don't have to be HARD at all. They need to land cleanly, nothing more. I guess you're not a fan of Paulie?

I didn't score the fight rbr but accept Parker as the winner.

Fury did put on a good fight (at least game plan wise), he avoided most punches and landed some (<10) punches while Parker moving in. So, maybe he did landed the most significant punches.

But in 12 rounds he was never the aggressor, even when Parker where exhausted from bum rushing with combinations, Fury was on the back foot. He NEVER went forward.

So I guess it comes down to how you focus the scoring criteria. Almost no hard punches where landed in the fight, Fury showed better defence (but Parker didn't get hit much either), and Parker where the aggressor in every round.

As a fight fan, I'd rather that HW boxing takes the road back to the 90's, with Holyfield like battles, then the cautious Klitschko era, therefore I like that the aggressor wins a fight where nothing happened.

They actually have to be hard. If its not of decent power than anyone can be a boxer. Pee Wee Herman could walk into the gym and be taken seriously.

Look at it this way - you got fighter A who just pitter patter punches fighter B but everytime fighter B punches its hard that it thuds and causes fighter As head to rock back violently. At the end of the fight, fighter As face is rearranged completely but he won the punches landed count. Whereas fighter Bs face looks great cos he wasnt hit with anything hard but he landed less punches. Who would you pick?

I disagree, styles make fights, and Hughie is an enigma quite clearly and has the potential to outbox anybody in the division, even when Usyk moves up there. Rigo vs Loma is fascinating because of their contrasting styles, Hughie is the Rigo of the HW division.
