If a punch doesn't have an observable effect on an opponent then it didn't land cleanly.

That's bull****. Was LL's powerful shots landed on Mccall not counted. Stop speaking out of your arse to suit your narrative.

essentially the punches need to transfer energy, or you may as well be shadow boxing.

After all if its not applying force, its not a punch is it? its a touch.

I didn't say they had to hurt the opponent, fool. I said they had to have an observable effect. Lennox's shots on McCall were snapping his head back, hence clearly landed shots. Hughie's were barely touching Parker. You don't count that sh!t.

The head-butt?? where did that come from? No read my post properly, its to do with the importance of hard punches.

I tried to make friends with a stray cat after going out to dinner on Saturday night but I didn't get to pat him because he was frightened & kept running underneath parked cars.

Reminded me a lot of Hughie's performance in this fight.

His range finding jab was to lure Parker in and he was hitting with some of those jabs as soon as Parker lowered his guard.

mcalls head can take heavy shots sure.

but they were stillheavy shots. there was still tranefer of momentum.

For long stretches Hughie was playing a touch sport, like he was in a playground at school. Appalling thing to say given hes a near 7 foot man.

Dont get me wrong, him being evasive counts for something, but not more than being the aggressor.

I guess you had Canelo the winner in the GGG fight than, because GGG's face looked more beaten and bruised after the fight. Parker is a tough Samoan, of course punches won't cut his skin as badly.

there needs to be force applied, or its not a punch, by definition.

Why do you support Hughie so much? He is a disgrace to boxing, the fight yesterday was a display of fantastic footwork, cowardice, false promises, lack of power, jab with absolutely no force behind it, I reckon BJS son punches a lot harder than Hughie. On the other hand, Parker was 10x worse than I expected and I didn't expect much, has very little power, wild swings, no footwork, no jabs, no ability to cut off the ring... he only has decent speed ans thats it. I had Parker winning 10 rounds, simply for the fact that Fury ran away all night throwing his pillow jabs, 90% of them I didn't even score, he threw one good punch in the whole fight, ONE. The fight was there from the taking, but the Furys tried to be clever and win with minimal effort. I'm convinced if Hugie fought with some aggresion, he would have won the fight

Then those shots counted. The others didn't.

No I was just trying to make a point of the importance of hard telling blows.

By the way, when I say Hughie doesnt have power, thats at the elite level. Hughies a heavy at the top level, of course he hits hard but maybe not so much for an iron chinned pro boxer. If I were to spar Hughie, he'd probably smash me with his jab saying 'what, you said my jabs are soft' and Ive done a lot of sparring to know those heavys at the top punch hard.
