Truly awesome! When I first saw him work the speed bag with his head I couldn't believe my eyes. If Duran had not partied, took drugs, alcohol, gained weight between fights and had trained hard he would have beaten everyone. Best lightweight ever. He could do wonder with the jump rope also, but the speed bag takes the cake. He could move his head on the ropes like crazy. Ray Arcel and Freddie Brown were great trainers.

I saw a short clip of him working the speed bag with his head.

I think it was "In This Corner". Maybe something else.

Yeah, he would work it so well. Duran used to turn his head right at the last moment to take the power out of his opponent's punch. His defense was underrated.

Duran Vs. Esteban de Jesus was awesome, both fights, in extreme heat!

    They fought three times.

The 2nd fight was the most entertaining, but the 3rd fight was Duran's masterpiece at lightweight.

Good boxing behind the jab, excellent defense, then he turns it up and murders Dejesus to the body, and finishes him off late, with the beginning of the end coming with a monster uppercut.

I watched a fantastic Duran highlight on youtube this week showing his rope jumping and speedbag head work.

I'll post it from home later.

His rope work was even more amazing to me than SRR's tapdance style.

Yes, it was. Thanks. Can't with to see it again.

I know that Duran fought fought De Jesus three times, but the two rematches were the exciting ones. It was to Hell and back in extreme heat! The first one was not exciting. Duran had not trained, it was somewhat dull, but the rematches were awesome.

Agreed, the first fight was kind of dull to me.

Actually I generally didn't enjoy watching too many Duran fights in full. They're often ugly with too many clinches, maybe because Duran was so good on the inside that his opponents held. The Lampkin fight, before the spectacular KO, it was extremely ugly. The Bizzarro fight too. Another brutal KO where you have to sit through a lot of stink (Bizzarro turning it into a track meet) to get to the good parts.

Similar to guys like Ali, what I watch Duran for is those little brilliant things he does. You sit through some dull and ugly moments to see them do some absolutely brilliant things.

My favorite Duran move was in the 3rd Dejesus fight was when he was against the ropes and slipped a hook or two, and then turned and manuevered Dejesus on the ropes, and ravaged him with some body shots.

I remember when De Jesus' foot left the canvas! Unreal.

Ray Arcel and Freddie Brown did a great job of training him also.

This is my favourite Duran clip. Go to 2:05

Duran gets Cuevas on the ropes. Cuevas throws 5 punches, Duran slips them all. Duran throws a jab to blind Cuevas and then throws a ****ing huge right hand that basically wins the fight
