Great fight between the two in the finals of the 2001 World Championship.

Haye rocked Solis in the opening seconds with a huge uppercut, causing a standing 8 and then cruised to a big 9-3 lead.

The second round was awesome, they stood toe to toe and Solis came out with a 19-15 lead and looked to be hurting Haye, even giving him a standing 8.

Third round was all Solis, completly outclassing Haye, giving him another standing out count. Then picked off all of Hayes shots leading to the ref stopping the bout.

Thank you for the video. Interesting.

Couple of things that I am curios about.

    1. Has Haye grown since then? He does not look any taller than Solis who is 6'1

    2. How come Solis moved to Super HW only after Povetkin moved to Pros?

Haye has a stance in which he keeps low, he often hits them with the uppercut from below, then unleashes the "Hayemakers".

Probably because he was still young enough that his metabolism hadn't slowed down yet. Once he moved up, he gained a lot of weight though. Questionable whether it's because he thought it helped or if it's because he got lazy.

Isn't he the same age as Povetkin though?

Yes, but different people's metabolisms slow down at different times.

Either way, I doubt the implication that he was ducking Povetkin in the ams, and even if he was, it wouldn't have been his choice, it would have been the Cuban government's choice.

Probably. Based on what I've seen, I'd guess Povetkin would win, but I don't know all that much about amateur scoring.
