If HBO and Showtime can do it, why not Cinemax? Or maybe strictly put it only on Directv on a special channel there? You get a big enough event, people will have to order Directv and cancel what they have. It doesn't just have to be all about HBO and Showtime....
Well Cinemax being operated by HBO probably plays a role here, as it's likely more efficient for everything to be on one network. I also think there's a serious question about how much returns the network would get on its investment; all the big fights will inevitably go to HBO or Showtime and I doubt merely showing Showbox/FNF-level bouts is going to attract a whole bunch of new subscribers. There was actually talk though about the network possibly being interested in going in that direction about a year ago, but I'm not sure how serious it was and half suspect people merely guessed that Cinemax was the network involved when referring to what would become NBC Sports' boxing program.
Oh ok, I didn't know Cinemax was operated by HBO. And as far as changing providers, if it was still 2010 and the world was still hungry for Mayweather vs Pacquiao or vice versa, or even now maybe a Cotto vs. Canelo matchup or say it was only being offered by Directv, and they had some promo deals to switch, you know a lot of people would switch over if that was the only way they could see something.
World Championship Boxing followed by Zane Sex Chronicles, Co-Ed Confidential, and Femme Feteles, and then a repeat of World Championship Boxing again...
Cinemax is owned by HBO so it wouldn't make sense. Boxing on Starz would be great, especially since you have Epix trying to enter the game.
HBO/Cinemax should get in on the MMA game. (Teach them Skinamax actors some chokes & a month of boxing training & they will be ready for the octagon)
