I do, he is an olympic hero, so professional hasn't worked out yet. There is still time, I think Audley deserves support.
I do feel a bit sorry for the big guy. He seems like a nice guy, just a bit deluded. (And i mean that in a slight psychlogical disorder kind of way). I hope he retires before he becomes a punchbag.
I think hes brankrupt i'm sure he's had to sell alot of his property, theres no way he could have maintained the 1 million quid BBC sports gave him and the hundreds of thousand uncle frank provided over 8 years without blowing it
Why would you feel sorry for someone who has got the chance to prove himself as a professional boxer on many occasions only to always fall short every time, to add to that he is an olympic champion which cannot be taken away from him, why would anyone feel sorry for him? To make matters worse his attitude is not one which will get people behind him and supporting him, he is arrogent and ignorant to reality, he talks the talk and sells himself to the public while not walking the walk so to speak Id never feel sorry for an olympic champion, that is a great honour. As far as the pro game in concerned, give up, your a joke at this stage and a journeyman fighter, now if he didnt claim to be a 'world champion' class fighter id say belt away and fight on as a journeyman but not this tool I feel sorry for him only because he is so disillusioned its pitiful
Not really people who fight the way audley does most of the time dont deserve sucess. If he fought the way he did against danny williams everytime which i think he would have (until sprot put an end to that) i would be more sympathetic for him. I was really behind audley after the williams but it was a one off.
yeah big time, at first i use to laugh and point but after listening to the guy after his defeat sat night my heart goes out to him, he actually tried saturday night but its just never going to happen for him no matter how hard he tries and trains, he has so much doubts in his own head and too many skeletons in the closet but thats just me i have a good heart, part of me thinks he will suffer mentally from his pro career for the rest of his life, i hope im wrong
Don't feel sorry for him at all. I ain't the sympathetic type anyway, but felt sorry for Mosley when he looked **** against Mayorga (will be even sorrier come Jan IMO) and also for DLH looking like a shot fighter against Pac. But not for Audley - he hasn't done anything to earn it. To be, he is just another pretender, with a big mouth - alongside thousands of others.
Not in the slightest. Audley turned pro to make a quick and what he thought was an easy buck. His pigheadedness and lack of insight has backfired astoundingly.
A little, but I know that he brought it all on himself. He didn't have to fight such weak opposition for so long. He especially didn't have to talk himself up as a legend after beating such weak opposition. He didn't need to mock and deride his domestic rivals as he did so either.
When you feast on bums for four years and step up about five levels in class in one go, you are bound to be beaten. Saying he was going to be British champion after five fights would have had the likes of Williams, Skelton and Sprott chomping at the bit to get their hands on him.
hopefully in the long run people will remember audley for what he achieved. he was a world class amateur.
