After rewatching the last 4 rounds or so (even though this was total domination right from the first round)...I felt sorry for the guy...I think this fight should've been stopped even before the 9th round...Briggs received too many power shots and this is the type of **** which potentially causes brain damage on the long run.

The ref and Shannon's corner should've stopped the fight imo...(just like they did during Brewster vs Wlad II)...It was going nowhere..he was just taking too much punishment..

    A little, yeah...starting around the 8th or 9th (and I hate Briggs).

I did. I was actually watching it wondering at what point a fighter would begin to take pity on his opponent. From round 5 on, the only reason to watch was to see if and when Vitali would get the KO.

I was really surprised the ref didn't stop the fight. There were instances in several rounds that it could have been stopped. It was a total beat down. But at least Briggs didn't quit on his stool like Peter. Briggs took a worse beating than Peter, and kept going.

I was concerned that Briggs was going to get seriously hurt. The reason the referee did not stop the fight is because the referee was from England and hates Klitschkos, he was a Haye fan.

The fact that he was never really close to coming off his feet worked against him.

Had he taken a knee at any point in that last third, the referee might have intervened soon afterward.

I was more pissed off at his corner and a bit disappointed in Vitaly(he could have stepped it up and stopped Briggs anytime after the 8th)!

It's the same thing his brother is criticized for.

Yet Vitali is the "natural born fighter" in the family.

I'm a fan of both Klits but they would do wonders for boxing if they had a bit more "eye of the tiger".

It's not the same thing because Vitali let's his hands go so much more. ...Where is my Caxap University sweater, by the way?

Edit: I really need to go to sleep. I rarely throw in apostrophes where they don't belong.

Yep, his corner should've shown more concern about his future wellbeing and stopped it around the 9th. Especially as he never looked likely in being able to hurt Vitali, even if he landed a couple of his big shots. Full props to him though, he's a warrior.
