Ward has a strong resume in his last 6 fights to be sure, I'd have to agree with a lot of other posters though and say Froch's last 6 opponents were stronger.

Dawson, Hopkins, Donarie are also up near the top as well.

    Carl Froch obviously.

    Took Dirrell AND Bute's 0. That's impressive ****.

Froch should only have on loss IMO. I think he beat Kessler.

As for Dirrell, Dirrell should have been disqualified for excessive holding. That fight was almost unwatchable.

How can he have the bigger wins? If you're referring to Bute, puh-leeze. I don't get the logic of Froch fans, Froch is all of the sudden greater than Ward by beating Bute YET Froch got his ass kicked by Ward. WTF!

Fact of the matter is, Froch is not even a close 2nd to Ward.

he fought in a tournament, of course its a lot easier to have top opponents lined up for you that way, but Ward proved he is the creme of the crop, he should be FOTY

quite right of you to say so, I wasnt aiming the leftover thing at you, but the OP.

Course Kessler was top dog, thats obvious. None of that means that Joe shouldnt get in the ring with Froch in the weight division that he had been at for 20 years (but suddenly conveniently couldnt make anymore for a year) and of course Dawson in the other division. I've mentioned these names already. Its simply not true that Froch and Dawson were the Furies and Prices of the divisions. Calzaghe certainly bared no bones about facing **** contenders with only a fraction of their talent when he was notching up easy defences, so how can you argue for a moment for Calzaghe not fighting men much better than nearly all of the men he defenced against?

he picked a grandad he could outgass rather than a fresher (and more importantly, actual title holding) LHW champion. Dont try to oversell 'The Ring' title.

Likewise, dont pretend that the Froch fight wouldnt have sold out within hours in Nottingham. And please dont even start to pretend Froch wasnt chasing Joe incessantly since you know it was Joe saying no till he was blue in the face.

    Yeah Froch

    Bute undefeated
    Ward undefeated
    Johnson
    Abraham
    Kessler
    Dirrell undefeated

Though I think there are alot of smoke and mirrors for both

    fair enough

I'm not sure how seriously I should take you? There was next to no money or demand to fight both Froch and Dawson back in 2007 and 2008. Secondly, once Joe had beaten Kessler, if he stepped back down and fought Froch who was British champion and hardly known by anyone, he would have gotten slated for cherrypicking! Froch was the British champ, he brought little to the table.

Yes it is true, Froch was British champ and not known by anyone but hardcore fans, much like David Price today!

Point out the **** contenders, and state who Calzaghe should have faced instead then we can talk.

Picked Hopkins? It was the fight everyone wanted, I trust you were following the sport back in 2007? Hopkins-Calzaghe was the fight that everyone following boxing, and following both fighters wanted to see. Hence it was a huge PPV event in Vegas :deal

I'm not overselling the Ring Magazine, Hopkins was the best LHW in the world- that's a fact.

Right, and what PPV revenue would Froch bring in? Who outside of hardcore fans would have been interested? Nobody. It's all about what you bring to the table, and Froch brought very little. It's like if Kell Brook were to call out Pacquiao, what does Brook bring to the table? Little in terms of revenue. You think Calzaghe at that point was interested in Froch's british title!?

I've got a lot of time for Carl Froch, but let's face facts, in 2007 he was little known, brought little to the table, and was British Champion. Calzaghe was the legit LHW Champ, fighting up at 175 on PPV in America when Froch was calling him out.

It's hard to take you seriously when you're so disingenuous, nobody except you believes Calzaghe avoided Froch. But hey, you're entitled to your opinion, and whilst it's clearly wrong, we can agree to disagree on this one, and to be honest you're going to struggle to find someone who does agree with you!

Except that Froch LOST two of those fights and had a real close call in a third.

All respect to Froch as a warrior, but you don't get nearly as much credit when comparing resumes for losses.
