...........when the Beast of Nottingham will secure his shot at the WBC title?:happy With Witter defending his WBC belt, plus Murray v Fewkes, it looks a good value for money show with tickets at £30 and £40 for a good view
I am one of Hennessy's harshest critics, but feel he has put together a cracking show here, with Froch headlining, Witter as chief support and a decent contest between Murray and Fewkes. Well done big fella.
Very good bill for anyone thats going. I've been very fortunate to go to two live boxing events this year so thats probably my fill for a while. Think Murray v Fewkes could steal the show - not often we see two good young british prospects matched against eachother. Really looking forward to that one.
Correct elle - usually the self interest of promoters rules the roost. I know that Murray is a trash talk sports fighter, not sure who Fewkes belongs to....... any idea? Even if a promoter has two fighters in the same weight division, one will go the proper route and one will go the interalphabetty route or WBU - (Matthews/Cook) for example. I assume this is a ten rounder - Murray seems like he doesn't quite know his style, one minute he is like Ricky Hatton, the next he is counter punching, while I have been impressed with Fewkes thus far, though he lacks KO power, which could count against him as he climbs the ladder.
Get a better view of watching on ITV. ITV are wise to give them a chance again after they both were on ITV when Witter fought Kotelnik and Froch against Barney.
Don't rate Murray, he sits behind a tight guard trying to outfight the other guy mostly and thought he lost to some Mexican journeyman that ITV showed on some Golden Boy show the day before Hatton Vs Floyd.
I think John Murray is a better fighter than many give him credit for. Hopefully the best is yet to come. :good
I have seen him a couple of times, and think he is decent - that said, I still think the mexican had him!
Fewkes is managed by Glyn Rhodes (also his trainer) and has a co-promotional deal with Frank Maloney. I think hell give Murray plenty to think about, by the way, but the Mancunians extra strength will probably see him home.
I have seen Fewkes fight quite a few times and love his style. He does lack power but he never goes looking for a KO. He likes to look stylish and win the fight at boxing, I do not know how far he can go but I expect him to beat Murray. Although really it is a tough one to call. I will be watching this one on TV.
Is the Froch fight at York Hall or am I getting things mixed up? If it's in London I'll try and get tickets.
