It's hard to picture the way he fights in my head. I've heard him described as a cross between Joe Gans and Young Griffo which to me suggests he was content jabbing on the outside but would fight in the pocket with defensive wizardry shifting his feet and head to avoid getting tagged too much. He was only stopped once in an uncountable number of fights which suggests a chin made of galvanised steel, but then he was often dropped in fights and that's the bit that makes it hard for me to paint a picture in my minds eye. How does an iron chinned defensive master fight behind a jab and still get dropped so often? I know the guy was fighting every two weeks so basically had to figure things out in the ring. I also know that from the age of 20 to 37 he essentially beat everyone he fought as a WW especially given the results of ND fights change every couple of years. Clearly a great fighter, I'm not questioning that here. But someone help me paint a picture with my minds eye. What filmed fighter does he most resemble?
Adaptable and a 'ring wizard'' by sounds of it but not delved too much into him, will try and find some old articles about his style when get time. https://www.boxingnewsonline.net/on-this-day-masterful-welterweight-champion-jack-britton-was-born/ http://senya13.blogspot.com/search/label/Jack Britton?m=0
Maybe a Terry Norris type, yeah Terry could box beautiful when not engaging in a brawl but he got the canvas a few times. Trinidad also sat on his bum in some bouts. Just a comparison of fighters who could be hurt. Not often a fighter is not tagged cleanly at least once in a bout
