I guess he absolutely dominated Montell Griffin 120-107 all three cards with only 5 fights under his belt and less than a year of pro boxing. Although he's 6'2, still quite a feat.
There was a report on his last fight somewhere. Said he fought with a typical central Asian style (upright, all offense, no defense), had a lot of skill but not necessarily a ton of natural talent. More of a future top 10 guy than a future beltholder.
I see a guy with alot of talent, but who may be stretching himself too thin. He'll travel halfway around the world to alternate fights between the US and his home country and if I'm not mistaken, promotes his own fights as well- which is unheard of for a new pro. I think he'd be best served focusing on fighting in one place (the selfish part of me would hope for the US!), and focusing 100% on boxing- which is really the interesting bit: he's already done what he has without putting everything he has into the sport (at least in the capacity of a fighter). But, unless he works on some things, polishes his game up, and invests the time in the ring to do it, he won't be a champ. If he does focus, he's got championship level upside, it's simply up to him as far as whether or not it's THAT important to him. He reminds me a bit of BJ Flores in the fact that they're both talented, smart guys but neither really needs boxing and so we, as fans, might never see how good completely motivated, hungry versions of either could be.
