    Easily?

I actually would favor Linares (and there aint many bigger Izzy fans than I), but ANY fight vs Vazquez aint gonna be easy bro.

I agree, nothing easy about fighting Vasquez, but I think this guy tops out tonight (unfortunately). He has taken a supreme beating, and at 126 his WBC counterpart is a monster who KOs him in the later rounds.

Could have been a draw. It was a great finish by Vazquez, it could have made the difference.

    Very good fight! Interesting fight!

    That ref was fantastic.

When you land AT LEAST 4 low blows...2 of which the ref actually STOPPED THE ACTION TO WARN HIM THEY WERE SO OBVIOUS...a borderline shot like the one that he got deducted for will almost ALWAYS result in the same conclusion.

    Again, that ref was fantastic.

But that's only because Vasquez is too small for 126 and is likely worn out from this trilogy. I'd still give Vasquez a shot.

Everyone's on Linares' sack, I don't get it. He's not even the best 'potential P4P' in that division, that would go to Gamboa, of course.

The ref was sharp and rightly took away the point after 2 explicit warnings to Marquez, about his low blows. Most refs wouldn't be so charitable.

Someone mentioned that the last round was controversial and because of it we should see another fight. The last round was NOT controversial - it was an incredibly dominant performance by Vazquez and an awsome show of stamina by him, proving that he wants it just a little bit more than Marquez. The knockdown was rightly ruled as such by Russell, because anyone could see that without those ropes that he used as a prop, Marquez was heading to the canvas in a real hurry. Furthermore, if it wasn't for Russell's intervention, the barrage of punches to the defenceless Marquez, was going to put him down on the canvas eventually in that sequence (and that could have resulted in a tko). When all is said and done, however, this fight was close and exciting enough, to easily justify a fourth fight and if need be, a fifth rubber match.

No question the one point deduction really hurt Marquez the ref job is not to help with the decision.

Exactly, its a pity that the refs decision to deduct a point, infuenced the decision.

Both times the ref stopped action to warn Marquez, the replays clearly showed the punches were on or above the beltline and legit.....infact, I dont believe that Showtime instant replay caught any shot of Marquez' below the belt.....if there was one, it certainly was'nt worth deducting points over.

......I think boxing has a problem with refs taking the liberty to deduct points and influence the outcome of a fight.....in years past, the low blow would have to be clearly low and have a harmful effect of a fighter before a ref had the audacity to stop action to deduct points......
....nowdays, alot of refs keep warning fighters for landing legit shots at or above the beltline!

.....and whats worse is that these refs riding fighters back about keeping them up when the shots he's landing are legit, now influence the flow of the fight, as the fighter being warned is so careful not to go anywhere near low that it takes away a major weapon that was being effective to that point.
.....those shots at the beltline hurt iggy, and they were legit shots, not low!

    divac,

Bottom line, your msg seems short in caterogically saying marquez is robbed?

is he robbed as far as your eyes is concerned? Are you saying if not for the refs deduction on Marquez could have won?

Robbed or not? There is no in between.
