Don't know too much about him but remembering hearing his name as he's previously sparred with Brook. I imagine being from Edinburgh and given the size of him, he'd have given Burns a few rounds as well?
http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=551206&cat=boxer This guy? Not fighting too frequently and yet to be up against someone to test him I would say. Journeymen so far and taken the distance by each one....
That's the man. I met him recently and i had never heard of him. His amateur record is impressive too. He seems desperate for fights and cant get on any cards. Happens far too much in this country. A real shame to people who dedicate years to get to pro level.
Used to train at same gym as him, McCallums are a big boxing family in Edinburgh. Don't really know him personally but wasn't his biggest fan. He had a segment written about him on BBC sport once where he claimed his amatuer record was something ridiculous (something like 100 odd wins with few losses) when in actual fact he lost around half of his fights, plus I don't recall him winning senior national titles. I'd be very surprised if he goes anywhere in the sport because I don't think he dedicates himself properly.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/8984193.stm That's the article, "129 wins from 147 fights". LOL.
Sparred with him years ago, never heard of him much since. Big headed and overly confident, decent enough boxer but absolutely nothing special. Think I can rememeber seeing him getting beat in the amateurs and taking it badly and throwing a tantrum- but I could be wrong.
Brophy hasn't beaten a soul worth talking about, so it's not that surprising. He needs to be stepped up and soon.
he's more than willing and it will happen this year thanks to MGM Marbella and his management IMO john wouldn't last 3 rounds with Brophy
Good to hear. Now we'll get to see if he is actually any good because beating the Latvian plumbers he is currently facing has taught us nothing.
