I'm glad to see everyones posts and am a big Mike fan myself lol. I hope to get more of his fights soon. Tyson is a big inspiration to me and him & RJJ really helped get me in this sport.

These 2 bloodsuckers just seen 100's Millions of $$$$$$$$$ go up in SMOKE:smoke

Did you notice Don King kept quite during that Horne rant:yep

I was at this fight & it was a really weird atmosphere before hand, super tense as in the fact that plenty got hammered at the MGM bookies from the 1st fight & again Tyson was odd's on & everyone expected to re-coup their losses. But it was an absolutly surreal atmosphere afterwards with every ****er walking around in a daze & pretending that they'd won some $$$$$ but with pig sick looks in their eyes & mass hysteria around the main foyer & total meltdown as far as security:lol:

He sure did but I feel Holy would've beat Tyson anyways headbutts or no headbutts.

I loved the part when the interviewer said "You don't have to shout at me" lol.

You were not alone. My old man put a ton on Berbick. And to be fair Berbick was only a 2/1 underdog, a week before the fight. Although a lot of late money was put on Tyson, and by bell time he was a very warm favourite.

But to answer the question, the Bruno fight in 89 was probably Tyson's worse performance in the mainstream up to that point. And the Williams fight really was a non event.

I had a fiver with a pal, that Douglas would go at least eight rounds with Tyson. Do not get me wrong, I did not think for one second he stood an earthly, but I did think Douglas had the ability to tie up and frustrate Tyson for long periods ala Smith, Green, Ribalta, Tucker and Tillis...

I thought when I saw the fight live that Tyson moved his head a lot less against Bruno. Than he did with other opponents.
While I thought he was slipping. I did not think Douglass was going to beat him.

Once Jacobs died, that was the last safety net Tyson had between King and him. Between uncontrolled Chaos and controlled chaos.
Bill Cayton mentioned the difference being that Jacobs was no longer there. That if Jimmy were around, Tyson would not have left and things would not have fallen apart.
Not saying things were perfect when Jimmy was alive because they were not. But Tyson didn't seem to be going anywhere as long as Jacobs was around. Jacobs smoothed things out.

Tyson mentioned how Jimmy would ask him if there was anything wrong and if there was, what could he do to help. Then he noted how nobody did that with him...except for King (now).

Listen to what Tyson says about Jacobs. It's quick, but right to the point. Start at around 2:18

I am an 80's child and I grew up loving Tyson. I remember me and all of my friends played Mike Tyson's Punchout all the time, I was the only one to beat Mike out of my circle lol. I was 10 years old when he won the title, my father being a HUGE boxing fans had all of Mikes fights taped, and with dad loving boxing I became a huge fan as well, Tyson was our guy!!

I can remember all of my uncles and dads friends and some of my friends we would all be parked in front of the TV watching the Tyson fight. I would say between all of us the entire circle we thought Mike was going to go down in history as the Greatest Heavyweight of all time no doubt! He was young, he had the fire, and he just mopped the floor with everybody!!

After the crew broke apart after the Spinks fight I did notice him seeming a little more human in the Bruno fight but lets be honest he still dominated Bruno, Bruno landed a couple of good shots in the first but that was about it. So though this Tyson didn't seem the same wrecking machine we were used 2 I still had no worries.

The Williams fight seemed more like vintage Tyson, so here we go back on track.

Then the Douglas fight, ugh!! I remember me and my buddies went to a party there were going to be a lot of hotties there so we decided to tape the Tyson fight which we never did we always watched them live. Dad was at the Elks lodge, we came home early cus the party sucked kicked on hbo (vcr still rolling) and what do we see 8th round action Tyson is swollen up and Douglas is having his way with him, wtf?? Well Tyson got the knockdown but we all know what happened in rounds 9 and 10...... I called Dad immediately at the lodge and told him what was going on, he didn't believe me, it was that unbelievable!!! For those of us who experienced it first hand him losing was mind blowing

Did you think it was the end for Tyson?
    And how about Douglas?
Did you have a feeling he was going to lose the title quickly?

I thought Tyson was in deep **** after a few rounds, but I didnt think he was going to lose until he was laid out.
Watching Douglas his entire career I didnt expect great things from him, although I liked his demeanor right after the fight in the proceeding weeks on the HBO special. He was still focused and wanted to fight Tyson again, its just King screwed it all up by trying to punk Douglas and Holyfield was owed his mandatory. He was sitting at ringside that night and was pissed that Tyson was getting his butt kicked.
