IMHO, don't focus on anyone's matches. It wouldn't help you thinking about the match on the day of the match. There's nothin you'll be able to learn. There nothing you'll be able to change. All you'll be doing is tense up and waste A LOT of energy by getting anxious. You'll pretty much gas out before your match. Just relax, listen to music, watch a comedy on ipod or some to that accord.
if its a small tournament like your sayin it is, make sure to pay real close to the brackets. when i went to my first submission tournament it was two loss elimination and after my first loss they forgot to put me on the losser side and they ran the tournament without me. the good part to that tho was that my teammates complained until they put me in against the guy who got 3rd and i totally dominated that guy so i still placed
Expect complete disorganization, high fees, blatant favoritism, brazilians protecting each other, and a general cluster ****. On the positive side, get the take down, work to finish the fight, if you lose on points, eh, so what, you lost on points, worry about finishing, its a begginer tournament, winning or losing isn't the point, stay within your self, stay simple, look to finish.
That's cool Jimmie. Tell us how it goes, I"ve always wandered what those NAGA torunaments were like, and Beebs awnsered it perfectly. I say treat it like a poker tournament or something. THe first round will be people who are liek sharks/think they're sharks trying to dust people off as quick as possible, and then if they try that stuff, do what you have to do to make them pay. Just getting a little excited there. Good luck:bbb :thumbsup
thats my biggest peeve, brazilians are the biggest cry babies in competition, coaches spend most of the time arguing with the ref coming practically in the actual fighting area and distract the ref from doing his/her job, they need to start throwing pwople out for that kinda stuff.....sorry kinda off subject
find out how many rounds your going to fight and train twice as many, dont waste your energy in the ifght there is nothing more embarassing than gassing in a fight.
I train 75% of the time with a Gi. I just prefer it over no gi. Your technique has to be tighter when your grappling with a gi. And it also has more submission options.
