watching this fight and it seems that it was really cold in the venue that night. Can anyone confirm or deny?
I didn't go to it (I was too young) but I remember it well. Both came into the ring with wooly hats (Bruno a Welsh one) - you could see their breath as they fought. It was very cold.
It was another typical Bruno defeat - winning the bloody thing before getting clocked! I think it was the first fight I watched on TV.
I was there, if I remember rightly they had to change the canvas before the bout, it was so wet; coldness was not really an issue; now Bugner/Bruno that was cold.... p.s. The Arms Park was a proper dump; the Millenium Stadium amazing
The 'Battle of Britain' Cardiff Arms Park, I still have two souvenir t shirts, one still in wrapper! I dont think there were any LL fans at all that night!
The atmosphere at the old Arms Park was far better than anything I've experienced in the Millennium Stadium.
Yes, nothing beats diving into the back of the terraces at half time as the **** seeps though the wall at the top of the terracing.
been reading frank's book.he claims he was moving in to put lewis away.he felt he was on top and wanted to end it.then got clobbered by that left hook. great finish from lewis weren't it.
Yeah its pretty natural the stuff that he lacked. You get hit and hurt. You hold - simple really. Bruno used to just stand there. Still think he'd batter anyone in the top ten today though.
He would stand there hands by his waist and just let them clock him until the referee had no alternative, whilst as you rightly say, better to hold on, or even take a knee while the head clears. He would be undisputed champion today though - hardly a contest between him and the great Sultan!
