One thing about Johnson, between Choyinski (1902) and Williard (1915) he wasn't convincingly defeated by anyone. 13 years between convincing defeats.

 

Wills lives off of the supposed "Dempsey ducking" which has become a huge myth over the years. Damn I would have thought a place like this would know the story on what happened.

To answer the original question; i prefer to split the eras between pre ww2 and post ww2, but if i blended them johnson is just outside my top 10. And Wills......well he is just outside top 20.

I think the fact that practically every important person in the sport, historians and trainers alike, many of which who saw the man fight, rank him at the top of all time. That speaks enough for me.

How can he prove he's NOT a Johnson hater? And more importantly, why should he?

If you believe he's a hater the onus is on YOU to prove it.

I mean if he thinks you're a dirty paedo should you have to prove your innocence?
