So, I take it your answer to the original question would be "Yes"? Small point. Did you replay using similar conditions? For instance, Charles in real life was in Post-Prime when he first fought Marciano. As for Jack Sharkey, the sim is, as yet, unable to simulate someone taking a dive, as it is alleged Sharkey did against Carnera.
and you base that conviction on what? Sharkey fought Carnera before and easily beat him. He had known social ties to the Capone mob and others. Not hard to see him negotiating a deal to lose the title to another mobbed-up fighter like Da Preem. As for the replay, did the chap who ran it re-rate some of the fighters himself? That would change everything. I would be less dubious if I knew the guy was experienced at rating fighters and had strong historical knowledge. For instance, TBCB is not able to really emulate the London Prize Ring era, so it would have to be fought under Queensberry Rules, which might indeed favour Kilrain. The game won't play out the historical outcomes exactly. Where would the fun be in that? If the fighters are correctly rated and the conditions are copied to the letter, chances of duplicating history increase though. :bbb Cap's Journal
I call it watching the film. That was a pretty good uppercut by Carnea, that even lifted Sharkey off the ground. No way that was a dive. Sharkey didnt have a all time great chin either. Primo can hit and hard if he finds the mark. He counter Sharkey off the ropes with the uppercut and made history. Sort of like Rahman Lewis.
I dont think he change his ratings though. There is a big differnts between what the computer said and what happen in real life.
If he changed the ratings though, that can radically alter results. You can't complain about the sim unless you know for sure that the ratings haven't been touched by someone who doesn't know what he's doing. If Tom Sharkey were rated correctly, he would lose to Bob Fitzsimmons many more times than he'd win. As in real life. You can't judge based on one match-up between two fighters however.
"January 1, 1985 (Totally Fictional Date) Larry Holmes facing increasing critisism for the quality of his opponents agrees to take on Greg Page. Page does not fit in anywhere with what I am doing, but in the interest of fair play he gets a shot. Holmes is under trained while Page is in top condition. The fight is scored as even on all cards when it suddenly stops. Larry Holmes KO's Greg Page at 36 seconds of Round 5." Not Happening.
Do you mean Holmes would not kayo Page? I recall Berbick beating the bejesus out of him. :yep Take a look at Cap's universe: Cap's Journal
