    WTF ???

    Am I seeing correctly ?

Did the saintly Saintpat just use the g-word to refer to women ?

The same poster who was castigating @klompton2 , @Seamus, @FrankinDallas and other putative social Neanderthals for using what he (mistakenly, as it turns out) termed, the n-word ?

    Well, well!

Talk about the pot calling the kettle b***k.

Might I suggest a healthy dose of gender-sensitivity training be prescribed for this poster, especially given our current era of #MeToo consciousness-raising.

    What's next ?

Will he take to referring to certain grown men as boys ?

I have always wish to be read this but in my native country, very few books have been chosen to be allowed with permission to translate to our native language and without such read on this much complexity in sentence structure would be nigh impossible. Please translate this book for me, all relevant matter you wish to discuss, friends.

That's great, now can we put this topic to bed ?
It seems to have been a small hiccup relentlessly blown by you into a full-scale drama.

Klompton used a word in his book that could be considered offensive.[a book you haven't read by the way],he has never made a racist remark on this forum that I have seen and with hindsight would probably have not used that one.
Joe Louis used the word extensively in his own autobiography,I realise it wasn't written that recently but not back in the dark ages either.
I don't know how many black posters we have here, but I don't see any of them up in arms about this.
I'm starting to wonder what you reaction would be if there was a real crisis here.Would you hyperventilate into an outraged faint!

We had a guy here until very recently who was calling posters, paedos, homos, and inviting a serving police officer to eat some lead.
That guy, by the way was the first person to raise this non- issue on this thread!
I don't recall any posts from you objecting on those posters behalf .No finger waving "shame on you's " then!
I don't remember you hauling him over the coals , your sense of decency outraged ,your political correctness button flashing on and off! Your fists beating your chest in a frenzy of selfrighteous anger. You certainly didnt seem offended by the use of those words.
You've established your credentials as a liberal non-racist all round nice guy fine.
Give yourself a collective pat on the back from all of us!
Take your "contrived " sense of hysterically over the top, outraged decency and-------it!
You've made 14 posts on this thread, not one of them even remotely about boxing , all of them stating, explaining, lecturing us on the non- political correctness of the use of a single word in a book you haven't read.

You've had your five minutes in the spotlight, your moment in the sun ,now for Christsake can you give it a rest!

    Lets get back to BOXING!!!!

From my experience to come to the conclusion that someone is a racist, you have to know them, their whole character.
To pick out one word, even if it is deemed in some people's opinion inappropriate from a 500 page book written by someone you've never met, and decide that person is racist, is absolute nonsense.

I have no idea what you’re talking about — I haven’t seen any of the posts you mentioned, so obviously I didn’t object to them. Am I responsible for reading every single post on the forum?

I commented on the topic of this thread. Other than the original comment, most if not all of my posts have been to people who replied to a post of mine (like this one) or by way of reply to others who posted something. It’s called discussion, which is what forums are all about.

Do you think using the N—— word is OK when referring to someone? Do you use it on a daily basis? Do you call African American people that when talking to them in person?

“Negro” is not “the n-word” though. But yeah, it has been considered inappropriate and offensive in this type of usage by lots and lots of black people for quite some time. I'm starting to realize that far more reasonable people were unaware of this than I’d ever imagined. I was very surprised that people reacted so defensively, but the more that I think about it I guess I get it, given the original source and the overblown nature of his allegations against the author’s character.

Making known your objection to the word was acceptable , making 14 posts about it in a holier than thou tone and talking about nothing else wasn't!
Fifty four years old and mortified by the word NEGRO .

FFS. Get over yourself with your fake indignation!

Nice dodge. Do you use the N-word? (Either version, ending in O or R.) If not, why not? It’s a simple question.

Sorry you don’t think I should be able to discuss a topic. I’m glad you can count btw.

He’s been responding to several people who insist on defending the word and belittling those who object to it. What’s the problem?

Is it appropriate for black people to refer to themselves as ******s because plenty of them do? Or is it only permissible if you yourself are black? How about if one of your parents is white or half white? What degree of coloured blood/ shade of dark complexioned skin gives you a free-pass to use the word? I find the word ****** offensive when used by anyone whether they be albino or a Nubian. I'm just sick of seeing these breast beating posts by our self appointed conscience.

In reading this I felt like I was listening to Life Liberty and Levin. This is the same stuff regurgitated over and over on right wing platforms and isn't even worth addressing. If you really want to learn something, here's a little hint for you, read, don't watch CNN or Fox news or listen to Mark Levin. I'm also not talking about reading party affiliated propaganda, but find your way past all that, and you'll see there's a whole big world out there.

Though I found it funny that you think professors at Berkeley are somehow uneducated morons because their views don't always mesh with yours. If you really opened your ears and listened to what they had to say, I think you'd find them less party affiliated and more free thinking that what you're currently exposing yourself to.
