Yeah, because I'm sure Cotto would have been sparked out in 4 rounds by Demetrius Hopkins and iced in 1 round by Mighty Mike Arnaoutis.

All of you Gomez believers had almost put some crazy thoughts into this guy having a chance to upset Cotto. However, this morning on our local newspaper, an interview with Gomez came up in which he explained the experience thru his training camp on having to stop the training camp because of a Pancrea illness. For those who can read spanish, please check this out and give me your thoughts

upsets are always possible, but the truth is that like Steve Forbes is a tune up for Oscar's fight with Floyd, Gomez is a tune up for a match up between the winner of Margo-Cintron. I think there might be a new Mexican Champion, but i dont think it's going to be Gomez, i think he is just a tune up for Margarito, expecting of course that he wins, which is what Bob Arum was probably thinking when choosing Gomez. I expect a great card with both fights being entertaining, the first one i see more of a toss up, while Gomez i see it as a tough test for Cotto.

He took some crisp, flush shots from Kermit Cintron and I know those guys don't hit harder than him.

Do you know how he lost to those guys? ... Did you watch those fights?

What exactly does Gomez have that can beat Cotto?

I don't see anything. Beating a completely shot Gatti and Ben Tackie was nice, but it doesn't mean you're going to trouble a prime Miguel Cotto.

Cotto is clearly stronger, hits harder, and is faster. Gomez is game but it seems to me he's in way over his head and is going to get pounded in this one.

Hopefully it won't ruin him, he seems like a nice kid.

Well, i checked it out, but you have to keep in mind that for Gomez this is sort of like a religion that he truly belives in. He has said it himself, that through out his training camp his been convincing himself that he can do it, and that he will beat Cotto come fight night, his done all this to the point that he frimly believes that he will defeat Cotto and the only thing that will change his mind is if Cotto defeats him convincibly. I dont think an inflamated pancrea (i think thats what it was) will stop him, or confuse him from his goals, he will only see it as another obstacle to overcome, and an extra motivation for a great victory.

I guess it doesnt mean much but its reported that Kermit tore a ligament in his right hand in the first round. I'm guessing that may have effected his punching commitment, volume and power....but then again tearing a ligament may hurt me more than the average man so that's no excuse.

I think he will make it a tough fight, but Cotto will pull it out. Gomez would, however, box Margaritos ears off.

Just look at the Baldomir-Zab fight, or Tyson-Douglas. I know Cotto is not like Zab Judah, but Gomez might be a lot like Baldomir, and he showed that sometimes a lot of heart, desire and faith can get u very far in Life. Dont get me wrong, im expecting Cotto to win, but you also have to understand that anything can happen. And another thing is, we wont really know who is the stronger of the two until fight night.

It wasn't Cotto's chin that failed him in those fights, it was carelessness and lack of defense. You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think any other light welter would have taken those shots from Torres and not been rocked. Then he came back to finish that fight  Cotto's chin is just fine. He fights much more disciplined now.
