I'm telling you... Mexico vs Puerto Rico it's the best rivalry in boxing!! :bbb :bbb Would you agree on that??
i see my son ezekiel is telling lies again, boy i told you to quit lying or i will make you sleep with your sister tonight.
Read the post ... I said he has more but I doubt that he'll use them. I do think he's stronger than Miguel but I doubt if that really matters this fight.
:rofl Alright, let's refocus and alter the question a tad. After Zab and Shane, I'm really not concerned about Cotto's chin, in this matchup at least. Putting the actual upset aside, who thinks Gomez can make it the distance?
Although i agree with u to some extend, we have to understand that what Cotto does best is not box. He is a pressure fighter, and thats what he does best regardless of how good he is able to box and counter punch. If im not mistaking, i think Cotto was coming off some criticism for being to cautous in the Abdulaev fight before he faced late replacement Torres, and if he would have boxed Mosley all tewlve rounds he would have looked like a fool who didnt dare to go toe2toe with a past prime Mosley. Just think of all the criticism he got for the last four rounds when moving away and making the fight easier for him, now imagine if he would have done that through out all of the fight. I think I understand your point, but my point is that Cotto knows when to box and when to brawl, and whenever he has made mistakes in fights, he makes up for them good. I guess i just wouldn't call him a brawler who could box more often. At least not yet.
wigger mcfitz is so confident yet he backs out from my bet! McFitz will be the first to discredit cotto after he destroys gomez in 3 rounds.
But he can box and box well ... It just seems like to me, its either one or the other ... he's either going to bang or he's going to box. He aims to please ... I seen a thread started by someone saying that he hoped that Cotto didn't hit and run .... Man I like to watch boxing ... its a treat to see people brawl and maybe mix in some effective boxing at the same time. But as boring as many think - I love to watch guys box ... use tactics ... make adjustments ... and hit more and get his less. When I had the Cotto v Mosley fight at my house the first thought was that Cotto had bitched up at the end of the fight ... but when you take a deeper look at that ... he made Mosley look his age ... he jab'd ... he blocked ... he ducked, slipped, and pivot'd ... and got the hell out of the way of danger. He used his side to side movement to perfection and whenever they got in close quarters Cotto flurried and kept it movin ...
How do you mean bigger? Cotto's fought a lot of taller fighters than himself? Is Cotto bigger than Shane? Shane's taller, and has fought at 154. But, let's just take Gomez's size advantage as a given. Gomez is the same height at Shane; he might be bulkier, but I doubt he's stronger. I certainly don't think he's stronger than Cotto. How much will size mean to a guy like Cotto? Dou you honestly think Gomez can keep Cotto off him? That he'll be more effective inside? I just don't understand how this supposed size advantage is going to help Gomez out.
Agreed. Although his size, since he is used to fighting at bigger divisions, might help him withstand Cotto's punishment better. I don't think he is stronger than Cotto either.
he doesn't watch boxing, he is a 15 year old black (white guy who thinks he is black/wigger) guy from 'tha hood'
I think there is no denying Cotto's ability to box, and you know what? Maybe your right, maybe he should box more, but i think this is going more towards styles preferences. I too love to watch boxers simply box, but i feel that Cotto's talent is between both abilities, (although, as i mentioned before, i think he's a better pressure fighter than boxer.) the fact that he can pressure fighters, and make them feel uncomfortable, and that he can also move, and counter effectivly. I feel that if Cotto was one or the other, he wouldn't be where he is right now, and the fact that he brawls and boxes is why he is at the level he is at, and if he just keeps, or finds (depending on how u see it) the perfect balance between both, he will be a force to be reckoned with for a long time.
