Anyone here still thinking Gomez upset?

So much for Gomez's size advantage. Seriously, what were you people who thought Gomez had a even a tiny chance of winning thinking?

 

The only real argument on why I heard that Gomez will give him trouble is that some people believed he was stronger than Cotto and could take his punches since he was used to fighting at middleweight. Not the case tonight.

Cotto proved he was indeed too strong and far too good for the game Gomez.

 

If one can call that a real argument. Some of these guys made it seem like Cotto was going to be in there with Valuev. The other thing I kept reading was Gomez was confident. I'm sure he was--or, at least, he was until the fight started--but confidence isn't enough. It's a prerequisite.

 

body punches and boxing .... cotto did both well and made the victory easy ... he barely got hit with a punch.

Speed was a very important factor in the fight ... in the first round it was obvious who was the faster fighter. Cotto used his jab ... and his speed en route to the stoppage. I would also like to see more boxing from Cotto ... when he boxes, its a beautiful thing and he does it well. I don't really care if he gets the KO because thats not what boxing is about. He's definitely a crowd pleaser.

Nothing has changed my mind as far as a Cotto v Mayweather match up ... he's not that good ... he'll put up a fight, but it will only last for a few rounds - then the process of Floyd picking him apart will begin.

I'm also amp'd to see Margarito v Cotto ... I liked at the end where these guy weren't concerned w/ PBF - they were on a collision course towards each other.

What does it matter ... it was the upset I was looking for ... I don't give a **** about your respect (relentless) ... you follow me around on these message boards and you check my post count and some of my past posts ... you're an internet stalker ... besides that you never even talk about boxing.

I didn't say anything about that ... I said that Gomez has a better chin ... Cotto took him down with a bodyshot. I said that Gomez fought bigger guys .... I never broke down how Gomez would win.

I said that Cotto had the edge on speed and that end up being the deciding factor.

Like I said, they put a lot of stock into Gomez's performance against Arturo Gatti. Completely ignoring the fact that Gatti was shot and had been beaten just as thoroughly and brutally by Carlos Baldomir a year prior. Some also thought since Gomez went rounds with middleweights on The Contender, he would be strong and durable enough to push Cotto. Completly ignoring the gaps in skill level.
