Watching the fight Khan clearly had the tools to back this version of Barrera up and not let him get off. MAB thew nothing. The cut played a part but MAB didnt he do anything in tiny spurts.

Under the WBO rules which applied to this contest, my understanding was that if the fight had been stopped before the end of the fourth round, on cuts caused by an accidental headbutt, it would have been declared a non-contest. (I might be wrong, though). However, Khan needed a RESULT on his big day, (which he deserved, of course). Boxing is a business and he got his result. A bit unfair on Barrera, but as almost everyone in this thread thinks, Khan would have beaten him even without the cut, by the looks of things.

    I do.

Khan was doing better than I expected for sure but there is no way in hell he'd keep that up for 12. The couple of times he did get tagged the iffy punch resistance was still evident.

Without the cut I think MAB would have stopped him.

He would definately put on a better fight, but Khans speed told the story, too big too young too quick for old MAB.

Where does Khan go from here is the question...Morales maybe...?

Sorry mate but I couldn't disagree more. MAB was cut early but what did he show at any point in that fight to show he was capable of stopping Khan?

Khan had learned how to clinch a bit more too, when in a spot of trouble.

    I don't think he'd have stopped him.

No, I think Kahn is too young, big & fast at this stage of both of their careers.

I think a rematch might see Kahn win a UD but I doubt we will see that.

Next up for MAB should be either Morales IV or retirement IMO.

    Impossible to say.

Khan starting like that was inevitable. I think the majority of people that picked Barrera must have realised that. He always did have to weather the early storm.

Khan could not have possibly fought 12 rounds like that, and he never truely hurt Barrera while doing all of his best work.

So without the cut, and a slower pace past round 6 or 7 that gives Barrera a little more opportunity to pick his shots...who knows. Khan reacted badly to a couple of punches, and logically one would expect when his speed dies down he'd be tagged more as the fight progresses.

I think it would be 70/30 Khan without the cut.

MAB was cut in the first round, so how can anyone say Khan was going to control the fight?

Khan won the round until the cut, then it was a one eyed MAB and Khan easily winning

Course he would have had a great chance to KO Khan at some point in the 12 rounds....
