There must be some kind of image recognition programme that scores a hit when the glove touches the right part of the body...but how accurate is it? How many cameras are involved? How does it know whether a punch is just short or not, from a bad angle? How does it decide whether most of the punch went through the gloves or not? Anyone know how this thing works?
How does the programme decide wich are power punches and which are not? How far the guys swings when he hits? How does it draw the line?:think
From what I inderstand they have 3 different guys. They have a computer and their job is to count punches. They have different keys that they push for a punch landed or missed and for jabs or power shots. They then average out the shots counted from all 3 guys if I am not mistaken but don't quote me on that as I am not 100% sure. POwer shot just means anything other than a jab. No matter how long or short or how hard or ineffectice a punch is. if it was not a jab it's considered a power shot.
Those three guys better be South Korean Computergames Champs... (To be honest, I cannot think of a more accurate system than that involving highly competent human counters...)
I wouldn't say that it is completly useless. Obviously you can not score a fight by it but when not taken too seriously it does give you some kind of an idea and it is usefull for future fight analasys also. Even though the ssytem is not perfect it is within a reasonable margin of error from the actual numbers. The only problem is when fans that don't really know the sport try to use it as the final word as to who won the fight.
:rofl some kind of high tech program! :rofl :rofl Its just some dude at ringside counting punches dude :rofl!!!!!!
