    It's only natural that home-grown U.S. fighters with a natural fanbase here are going to be more invested in and get better compensation, at least initially. Networks will pay in advance because, let's be real, it's easier to sell an American boxing star here (all other things being equal).

    The foreign fighters you mentioned have to succeed and capture viewers in spite of demographics by producing exciting KO's, and then hopefully get rewarded after they've proven their mettle. I don't necessarily like that that's what the model is, but it is a business at the end of the day, and if a foreign fighter doesn't come with a large ethnic fanbase, they need to be exciting for networks to rally behind them. That's a huge reason a defensive minded slickster like Rigondeaux faces the headwinds he does.
