Anyone know more about Foreman's 1968 Gold Medal win over Soviet Jonas epulis?

    He really battered guy, you dont see stoppages in the olympics much but I guess it was different back then with round scoring and no head gear.

    All I can find out is George was 19 that year and the soviet was 29.

    Did foreman really only have 20 fights prior to the Olympics and was only boxing for less than 2 years?

    To me, that was more in line with what boxing is suppose to be. It is more in line with what these guys will experience if they turn pro.

    I feel the newer rules, use of headgear, increased emphasis on amount of touches with the scoring portion of gloves, more referee interference, etc. has taken away from the sport.

    International and Olympic boxing seems to have been watered down over the years, so much so, I'll only watch the semi's and finals of the Olympics.
