I think one of them, Norman Goins, was the only one to stop him. He later beat Goins in the pros.Of course, we know that Hilmer Kenty became the WBA Lightweight Champ(though don't know how many times that Hilmer beat Aaron), and Howard Davis jr was a serious lightweight contender who was one of the biggest underachievers ever.

Thanks, T1. Didn't know any of those guys beat Pryor in the amateurs. As much of a Tasmanian Devil as Pryor was, can't even imagine any of those guys doin' it, especially a brittle Davis, Jr., or Goins stopping him.

Any idea who the other 13 were?

I know Pryor fought Tommy Hearns in the amateurs, but I don't remember who won.

Funny, B, looked at wikipedia. No mention of who his amateur losses were.

True. I believe there is footage on youtube of Pryor taking it to Tommy. Hearns was about 6ft and weighted 115lbs.

I just checked. Pryor did indeed beat Hearns.

Pryor comes to mind, because aside from Pac, think he's the only fighter with a tough enough beard, unorthodox enough, fearless enough, relentless enough, 'n vicious enough to walk through everything Mayweather has 'n beat him down at 140.

I will try to find out for you as Aaron helps train young Amateurs not far from where I live.

Many thanks, hh. With your long history in the sport, do you think at 140 Aaron would've had a good shot at Mayweather?

hh, if you get to talk to Aaron... could you ask him, if he ever met Ayub Kalule as an amateur??

A friend if mine saw a Canadian article on Kalule some time back - and this article claimed that Kalule lost to Pryor early in his amateur career. Since then we have both tried to verify this - but with no luck!

We both have a special interest in Kalule - and would really like to know, if this is true?? If you can help, it would be much appreciated.

Well, John, outside of a Chris Clarke from Canada in the 1975 Pan AM Finals, unfortunately no.I'm surprised that Aaron lost that many fights as an amateur.

Know any more about the Clarke victory 'n what became of him, T?

Can't imagine any amateur stickin' 'n runnin' like hell avoiding Pryor annhilation for ONE round, let alone three.

200-16 isn't a bad record at all. He had a couple of disputed decision losses to Howard Davis Juan Manuel Lopez had 23 or 25 losses as an amateur.
