Aaron was Great, and yes he would have a shot BUT I really think Mayweather's defense would be a problem. BUT on the other hand, Floyd never fought such an aggressive opponent as Aaron. I will have to think about this one a little more, BUT Floyd did beat the better opponents.

Guys, I just reached out to Aaron. Hopefully, I will hear from him soon.

Howard Davis, who was felled by a strong breeze, SC? I'd've thought Pryor would've ground him to powder. One of Pryor's misses would've KO'd Davis.

Back in the late 1990's I became pretty close to Howard. In fact one day he called me up and wanted to know if I could arrange a reunion of the 1976 Olympic Team. He told me that he had almost all the contact numbers and that he just got off the phone with Sugar Ray Leonard. For some reason I never heard from him again.

Davis a was an excellent boxer and was only stopped twice in his Pro career. Once by another boxer that I knew very well, Buddy McGirt in 1988 and then again, in 1996.

His style was better suited for the amateurs and I guess that is why he was so successful at that level. The same goes for yet another boxer that I know very well, Mark Breland.

I just got off the phone with his wife and she said the Aaron started boxing at the age of 13 and lost several during the 1st couple of years but they don't know to who, and no records were kept. She did say he lost to Howard Davis Jr. and Hilmer Kenty. She said he fought Kenty around 6 times as an amateur.

Curious, h, how boxing mavens are in sync about the NUMBER of Aaron's amateur loses, yet, so far, no one's able to name ALL the guys that bested him.

Maybe they were smokers, not AAU sanctioned bouts.

All his wife said is that he did lose approx. 16 bouts BUT most of them happened very early in his amateur career. Amateur bouts are very hard to find, especially years ago because a lot of them weren't recorded. Even today we have some problems. I am starting to change that in New Jersey.

Yes he did, at the 1976 Olympic Trials & Box-Offs, Howard defeated Davis twice to qualify at 132 pounds.

I just came back from a press conference where the main event is going to be Aaron Pryor Jr., and his father attend. I sat next to them, along with Harold Lederman. I asked Aaron Sr., about his Amateur record and he said that he lost several in the beginning of his career but couldn't remember any of the names.

He did say that he lost to Howard Davis Jr. and Hilmer Kenty. A couple of minutes later he added the name of Norman Goins.

    re: Kalule

He had a decision win against a very young Mugabi in like the 74 or 76 timeframe & Mugabi did not lose many as an amateur. The interesting thing is at least 3 of the 5 were against southpaws.

I'm fairly certain Kalule fought Aldama as well. I know he fought Herol Graham.
