Bob "I was Lying Yesterday, Today I am Telling the Truth" Arum was quoted as saying it did 1.6 to 2 million.

But it appears that the writer for that article screwed up and used the quote Arum said for Pacquiao-De La Hoya, or Arum somehow happened to use the exact same quote to describe Pacquiao-Hatton.

    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/boxing/2008-12-05-pay-per-view-de-la-hoya-pacquiao_N.htm

I haven't heard anything about PPV numbers for Pac-Hatton other than this quote from Arum, which apparently is a mistake anyway.

    Any word on PPV figures?

My guess from the beginning and I'm sticking to it until Arum comes out with some "officially"-official numbers!

    Nothing official, but...

    ----------------------------

"Initial estimates indicate that Pacquiao would earn considerably more than the $12 million guarantee for his brutal second round knockout of Hatton. Arum told us that pay-per-view numbers did “extremely well.”

He estimated that PPV buys in the US alone would be “north of 900,000 and north of a million in Britain ” which would boost Pacquiao’s income. Solar Sports which telecast the fight over its own cable channel and GMA 7 as well as the famed Araneta Coliseum, theaters, school gymnasiums, restaurants, hotels and pubs nationwide reportedly paid Pacquiao $1.2 million for the Philippine rights not to mention the many endorsements the fighter earns from."

    ----------------------------

Dan (Brooklyn, NY): Hey Dan. I read that the PPV did over a million buys. Is that number official yet? Seems pretty huge.

Dan Rafael: There is no official number yet but I wouldn't be shocked at all if it did a million-plus. Based on everything I have been hearing from those involved, it looks like that is a good possibility.

Interesting. Seems like it has already surpassed Hatton-PBF at the least in US. Considering the economy, thats very good.

It normally takes a month or so. Wait a while. I've guessed it'll do anywhere from 1.2-1.6 mil world wide so we'll see.

Considering that there is probably a million buys from the UK (Hatton), then 1.2 to 1.6 worldwide wouldn't be very good......
