I thought I read in one state gauze was not even allowed. Just tape. A recent article a guy, don't remember who, said he used a roll on most guys, anda roll and a half on larger. Wouldn't it be harder to adulterate the tape in the way some are saying this was done? Also, wouldn't it be harder for this stuff to get "wet from sweat" to harden? It would have to be the first layer and then you would have all of the tape over it. I have read pads and plastic also. I'm sure it is all simultaneously true, but, just for kicks, anyone know the rules in California? What is the tape boxers use like. I never really thought about it before.
Good question. I personally do not. According to reports Richardson objected to "the shape" of what he saw.
I should have asked for Nevada since some people are posting the Nevada Boxing Commission was involved.
Really, the report I read said that he felt the wraps and felt that they were hard. In honesty I've read a few reports on the incident and there doesn't seem to be any consistency in the stories. And it seems like only the media is making a big deal about it. Mosley didn't seem concerned about it. The media says they had him rewrap three times? What the **** was wrong with redoing it once? I don't think Margarito is going to even be fined for whatever happened. I think HBO and the rest of the media jumped on a story and blew it out of proportion.
Speaking of how they felt - Margarito spent more than 45 minutes in the ring after the Cotto fight in nothing but his wraps, shaking hands with everybody, hugging, and having his hands raised by the referee. If he had something to hide he sure as **** wasn't acting like it.
So all this crap is based on some guy who said "the shape" of Margarito's hand-wraps didn't look right? Good grief!!atschatsch
That is EXACTLY what I think happened, and boxing fans are jumping on the Margarito hate bandwagon without ANY concrete evidence. This is SO pathetic. Sometimes boxing fans disgust me.
