Wiki has nothing on him, No death or birthdate which isn't exactly uncommon. Anything on him in the 2000-2010s at all?
True, although I would hold boxrec as more reliable than wiki. However, I do see the predicament. I can't seem to find an obituary or any official statement of his death either.
Exactly- maybe he’s out there lurking to this day as a nameless urchin, a warrior from a bygone age a man they toss handfuls of pennies at, a man they look down on a man who could’ve been the man.
I m thinking he's gone to meet his maker. What will he be now, 102? There's not many boxers get to that grand old age unfortunately. But, who really knows.?
The "findagrave" website also says he died in 1984 but, again, it's not clear what their evidence is. It doesn't help that Sheppard's real name was James Roberts - a very common name which makes it hard to be sure that any records you find relate to the right man. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/135567223/james-roberts
That's what I am saying, He was quite famous in his own time boxers before his time have known graves and official details on there death as obscure as some are. His name does raise an issue. Honestly I think he passed long after anyone who cared enough to report it left us.
