Anyone know what khan maidana ppv numbers were?

Attendance was 4,632 which doesn't sound great but Marquez-Katsidis only did about 5,000. Not sure about PPV numbers.

 

Sounds a bit silly does that figure when they could have packed out the MEN or the O2 arena.

 

Maidana would only fight in Vegas, apparently.

 

The attendance is irrelevant, wouldn't have mattered if there was 1k people, the Casinos attract the high rollers with ringside seats while they do there brains in at the tables over the weekend.

 

5,000 is actually Pretty damn good for a U.S Debut considering Floyd struggles to sell out the 18,000 seat MGM.

This past weekend’s attendance was announced at 4,632. But that was buoyed by the fact that the Mandalay Bay offered free tickets to the fight AND a comped room. And this wasn’t an offer made just to their big players but folks, like a friend of mine, who hadn’t stayed there in a few years. And as he took up the offer, without provocation, his tickets were automatically upgraded from $150 to the $350 level

 

It wasn't his US debut though.

 

5000 isnt bad the Americans dont truly understand coming to watch live sporting events in the same way we do. They may have massive American football stadiums but they are so far apart you dont get that home and away ends and accessability to such events for lots of americans is minimal so they never get that large crowd attendance culture we do in the UK.

 

Not for Boxing but the attendances they get for Sport in general is incredible. The harsh reality is that these figures are more a sign of the poor state of Boxing in the States then the Sporting culture in the States.

 

Some interesting facts to match up with the Khan attendance figures:

Darchinyan vs Agbeko - 11,772 attended, 757 paid.
Berto vs Quintana - 3,508 attended, 972 paid.
Williams vs Cintron - 3,653 attended, 2,442 paid.

So Khan's figures aren't that bad when you compare it to others in the past. Although it's a sad state of affairs when small hall British shows at the York Hall are bringing in more paying fans than 'world' title fights in America...

 

:deal Apart from a few fighters crowds in America are pathetic. Paul Smith sells more tickets than the likes of Berto and Dawson.

Were there seriously that many freebies for Darch/Agbeko?

HBO don't put any fight on PPV. Just Pac and Mayweather fights.
