valuev had a few of his earlier fights in australia. but am curious what it was that brought him out here. he won all fights by 1st round ko by the way. anyone know what connection there was.

interesting too is that valuev is planning a voluntary defence. i wonder if there might be a chance for a big event in sydney if he chooses to fight kali meehan. you would think that another headline name like katsidis etc could create some interest and more importantly bring a good crowd.

    what do people think?

From memory Kostya was the connection, he fought on a few of his undercards.

I think Valuev is a fraud and shouldn't even be the Heavyweight champion after Holyfield clearly outboxed him. A voluntary against Meehan would draw well, but he'd probably get just as good money in Germany etc.

...are you talking about the same Holy that lost a disputable decision to Lennox?? Poor draw.

Kostya and promoter Vlad Wharton, had some fights in England before that with I think Frank Warren who was less than enamoured with him

Valuev and Holyfield were both pathetic in that fight. I agree that Holyfield should have gotten the decision, but they were both just woefull.

C'mon.. Holy deserves some credit..... being 84 years old and taking on a Neolithic statue.

Ha, so because one fighter benefits from a questionable decision 10 years ago, it somehow validates today's fighter?

Lennox wasn't 46 years old at the time and Evander still made him fight on the backfoot for 24 rounds.

Ippy.. you have me wrong mate. I was praising Holy as the bloke who was ripped off against Lennox.

As for Val.... if a 46 y/o Holy took him the journey, with a 10' reach limitation, then Val is total ****.

I just somehow wish Valuev could go back in time and get his arse kicked by Marvin Hart or Primo Carnera so it's proven he's the worst champion of all time...

Mate, I wish Marciano and Tommy Burns would do the same to Val..

More to the point, I wish the standard of the game was designed aroung the way it was back then.
